is it smart to change soil?

I'm ready to transplant my plant because I can see the roots coming out from the bottom. I dont have enough soil from my old soil and my friend offered me his soil. I was wondering, is it smart to change up soils when transplanting? P.S, my friend says his soil has lots of nutrient.

Can your friend tell you the name of the soil or what's in it if he mixed himself?

I would depending on plant size it could be ready for the transplant into nutrient filled soil. But you want good soil to use period.
