Is It Time To Transplant?

I'm just wondering if I should transplant my plants into their larger containers yet. This plant is about 4 weeks old. I couldn't get anymore pics since my camera battery died so I need to wait until it's charged and I'll take more pics of this one and the others.

honestly i'de wait a bit untill the roots grow hella so the soil doesnt fall apart when you pull the soil out. can easeily damage the roots if you're not careful

That why asking questions like this is pointless . Everyones garden is different . What could possibly go wrong if you transplant them now ? Its been 4 wks .

Well, I can't afford anymore light. I've already spent almost $100 on the 150w hps light they are under. Also I apologize, I believe they are actually around 2 1/2-3 weeks. I don't know why I was thinking I planted them earlier. Maybe getting them confused with other ones I tried. Also if I have a setup for 150w can I use a higher watt bulb in the ballast?

I think your plants are stretching because they are missing higher spectrums in veg under a hps. Can't you add 4 26w cfls to your grow? 100w of cfl cost $12.

I don't go more than 2 weeks in party cups, by then they've got a decent rootmass at the bottom. I came across some 16oz peat pots 8/$1 at a big lot discount store and I cleaned em out, gonna give them a test run next grow. Sometimes it's a bitch to get them out of cups without cutting it off with scissors. gnomesayin?

I will try to add some cfls to the setup. Can I just add one high watt one? There's only one light socket in the ceiling and I can't afford to buy more just yet. I'm going to transplant them today I think.

Bare sockets are $1.50 and 6' extension cords are $1. I've wired dozens of these things with no problems whatsoever (there's one in my sig). You can add as many cfls as you want for less than the cost of the bulbs, check out my tutorial...

Take a $1 extension cord, cut the female plug off and strip the wires. The hot wire has writing on it and comes from the skinny plug. The hot wire connects to the brass screw on the socket.

Use a razor to expose as many connections as you want on your stripped extension cord. $1 cords are 6' so I had to use two for my build, but all 16 bulbs are drawing power from one cord 24/0 for about a year now with no problems. The cord isn't even warm.

I bought my bare sockets at Lowes, which has a section for people who like to make their own fruity lamps so whatever extra hardware you need can be found in one 4' section. (except the 90° brackets)

But anyway, it helps to have a mix of spectrums. In veg you want more of the higher spectrums, just like late spring, early summer. In flower, you want more of the lower spectrums, just like late summer, fall. Your plants will do real well with the cfls placed around them and the HPS on top.

Thanks a lot! I will try to get to Lowes and pick some up. That sounds pretty easy. My plants seem to be doing pretty good today. I transplanted them yesterday and then rearranged my setup. I know a lot of light was escaping since they were just in an open area of my basement and since I'm going the economical route this grow I just used trash bags to hang up around them for now until I can afford something else. It seems to be helping keep the light in since the plants look great today.

no dear, not unless you want to start a fire.
whats wrong with the 100W u have? u can grow a plant from start to finish in that. it just won't yield as much. but so what? do it anyway.

Mine looks the exact same with 2 and a half weeks approx growing outside....I just transplanted...let the soil dry just a little to where it is a solid piece you can transplant then transplant into a gallon bucket or bigger so you won't have to do again. If you don't water one day or so it will be ready for transplant then water immediately. Looks good...go get you some cheap 100 watt cfl and add a little light...with cfl I don't think you can go too overboard. That should set you up for the next six to eight weeks.
