Is it cheaper to buy in "kits" or like a package such as the above?

If that setup sucks, what do you guys advise?

I would upgrade the hood to a nice air cooled one .. you wont keep the heat down in a tent with 1000 watts easily without one. You will also need a good 8 inch or atleast 6 inch inline fan.. the ones they include are booster fans and are good for intake only imo. I would just buy the 8 inch or 6 inch kit on there with a scrubber.. little better hood.. and you will be on ur way

Looks pretty nice, and the price is not that bad... BUT, if you're getting bare minimums from that site, meaning, that if your picking everything that comes with it, the basics that dont charge you extra, then no i dont believe its worth it! I think you could make a room in your home ready for a little more money but a way bigger space!! I dont know what your situation is, but i would part it out. Like a timer is only 2-3 bucks, you can get a 1000w HPS and 1000w MH cheap off the internet, and soil and pots and stuff are cheap as hell at lowes or home depot or even your local gardening shop. Just price it all out if you were to buy individually, and compare it to that. I think most of what youre paying for is the shell... I would rather spend a few more bucks and have a bigger space to grow in. Just my opinion though! If you do buy it, i DONT think youre completely wasting your money.... just might be able to get more bang from your buck. Good luck! PS DEFINATELY UPGRADE YOUR NUTRIENTS, if you go this way!!

Well a few things initially I plotted this adventure at 1500 but from what I cam tell that's overkill ? Haha with say with $1000 I should be able to get some nice dank weed, u guys think I could pull a pound a harvest off

you can pull a pound off a 1000 watter .. plant count really doesnt matter.. its the lighting that determines yield

So for 1k to 1500 I could possibly pull 2 pounds? Dang I could snap 1g+ bowls in my bong haha epic!
