Might be slugs.. Looks like our lettuce..

I did see a couple slugs under one pot. How do I tell forsure? Any thoughts?

Looks like slugs to me too. crumbled egg shells around the base and they wont climb up. like rice size pieces it's like crawling on glass for them and they move on. Is there slime trails anywhere? I bet he lives under that log and comes out at night on that side of the plant.

Seriously though, if you find snail trails within 15 feet of the plant that means some ratchet ass hoe thinks she can smoke it. Thought she could sneak some leaf off and you would never notice.

Fyi. Wife found caterpillars in our lettuce today. Happy to not have plants outdoors yet!

I found some slugs. Am taking care of the problem now.

you can also make a barrier with copper tape. they wont slug over copper.
its even listed as one of the uses for this copper tape on amazon haha.
