i use around 140w in a 2x2.5' tent. Have used as high as 45 per square but seemed to cause problems in flower.

yeah thats getting up there......... Some plants might be able to handle it. Cactus. Tumbleweed. Things of that nature. Marijuana might struggle. And if your air temps are 83 your canopy is going to be closer to 90. Maybe if you run co2 and all the other bells and whistles.

I run 250 in my 2x2.5 tent.
5 Cree cobs running at 50 watts each.
It is adjustable, so it runs less than full most of the time, but in flower, especially during the stretch, it runs the full 250.

There's more to it than just wattage, I'd say it's too much unless the light has terrible efficiency. What light is it?
30-35 watts/ square foot is common with quality led.

True watts is input to the light, not what the light outputs. What light is it? Link?
Sounds like too much no matter what though...
