i read that both female and males start out as sack looking things. females tear drop shaped and males round. i thought that females had the hairs?? do they come out of the sack???

Yes, they start out the same and can be deceiving. I've seen what I thought were males preflowers turn out to be females. BUT, you have a forgiving window in which you will know for sure what is what before the males open. The more times you grow the easier identification will get.

Who lied to you? Nah but the thing about females is that there hairs pop out a couple hours after the little bulb pops up. Any linger after that and it's a male or if there is more than one bulb looking thing in the same area it's a male.
