IS YOUR TENT SITTING ON THE COLD FLOOR/GROUND?

Hello fellow RIU friends, I was worried about roots getting too cold or maybe even slowing down root growth do to temps being slightly cold on the floor of my grow tent at night or when light are out. my tent is in my garage on a concrete slab. Is it beneficial to get a insulation slab from home depot to lay my tent on. Im just trying to promote faster root growth and I believe this could be an issue if temps are dropping below 55F at night. Does anyone else have there tent on concrete, Hardwood or tile floors without an issue? please feel free to leave an opinion or anything you have to help out this is my first indoor grow Thank You

I know a heat mat would warm up the roots at night ,but I just want to keep the roots at a decent temp and keep electricity the bill down

if in the US- lowes and home depot sell a 1" styrofoam insulation sheet for $10 or so.

I assumed the same thing that a insulation foam sheet might be beneficial. But wasn't sure and kind of forgot that I wanted to do that.
My tent sits on the bare floor. We use to have carpet but it got old and smelly so ripped it out.
Now there is what I believe to be asbestos tiles and that is what my tent sits on. Also my tent bottom liner when I slide a pot and saucer one day it ripped a small hole in the tent liner. I can't find a replacement liner, and I'm not about to buy a brand new tent before I get the full use out of this one. I could patch the hole, but meh, my plants don't flood the tent too often unless I make a mistake, I just use a saucer for every pot. But yeah, I was also thinking if i go with the insulation foam board that stuff is also built with a reflective layer so that might help reflect some light upward too is its inside the tent.

Also you didn't know it but, Thanks for reminding me that I want to do this too, haha.

I have been thinking about doing something a bit different too so this other project could be why the insulation board slipped my mind.
I was thinking about using two 2x4 sheets of melamine to make a 4x4 table for my tent. raise this up a bit and then use some of those clamps
for pvc that look like a U but with a fin on the base on either side where a screw would hold down pvc. Then just use 1 1/4 pvc to use as a drainage rail for 6 bato buckets, 3 buckets on two pvc rails running to a couple 90's and a T in the center then run that down underneath the melamine into a rubber main tote rez with a fountain pump running 1/2 inch up through a hole in the center of the melamine to a 6 outlet manifold where i could shoot off irrigation lines to the bato buckets so three times a day they get watered from bubbler irrigation heads i was planning to put two bubblers in each bato bucket. and of course a air stone in the rez as well. The melamine would look clean all white ought to be reflective and could be sprayed down and wiped clean easily. I was thinking to use more pvc and more clamps to clamp down a scrog to the secure it well on the top of the melamine table. bato bucket is basically the same thing as a hempy bucket. its also called a dutch bucket.

I believe in getting them up off the ground in a basement or garage concrete floor. You can easily build a small platform for it, like a 2x4 frame with a sheet of plywood, or even an old skid with a slab of insulation on top. The platform keeps a layer of warmer air and will help maintain the temps on top of it more to ambient temperature of the room. I finished my outdoor in the garage this fall, just threw a bunch of 1x6 boards on the floor and a couple of pieces of plywood to set the pots on.

I too have my tent in the garage on cold concrete. Although because I'm in DWC it actually keeps my water just the right temp this time of year. I had grown in soil the past 2 times before though. I would get one of those heating pads for pets though, they're about 20-25$ on Amazon. Or like GroErr said, you could build a platform fairly easy if heighth isn't an issue for you...Happy Growing.

my tent sits directly on the floor in my garage as well and I don't see any difference in groth. although I run my flower lights overnight instead of day time use for two reasons, 1 it keeps em warmer during winter. and 2 I skip the peak power hours so it costs less in electricity.

I always run my system at night, in the summer it's cooler and like you said about winter...I think it'd be worth testing if you had the extra plants though.

EDIT - ok.. not more powah... $$... Raise it off the ground with insu as stated .. I use a seedling heat mat regardless for seed starting and cloning.

all my rooms are on the concrete floor w/o any issues. still pulling excellent yields per plant.

I know it might sound cheap, but try either a frozen 2 liter or water bottle, let it freeze, and put it in your res if you have one. What kinda setup you running Pickpocket?

I have been in and out of security issues. So im down to a smaller 3x3 tent. Going 400 mh veg and 1200w led + 400 HPS for flower. In a 5 gallon dwc. Its all I really know to be honest is hydro. When I had my big setup I liked a drip system in coco! Was running all my lights $$

Just thought I'd share. When I grew soil a few years back I crossed this same bridge. While I doubt it really makes a big difference, I decided to put my plants onto a wooden pallet rather then right on the floor. I had access to free pallets so I grabbed a 4x8 one, and put my 10, 5 gallon grow bags on that.

Best solution my friend ^^^ And I'm running DWC too Pickpocket, except it's a 4 site with a 5 gal bucket outside the tent recirculating the water. Another way I cool my water is pointing the air duct running inside my tent, sucking air in, at my buckets. That way cold air is constantly hitting the water buckets. Helps just a little. What do you mean security issues? Excuse my dumbness...

I also have my water res on the same floor. water temp reads 70.9* when I ph it. still no issues.
