I've posted randomly about this plant over the past few months now. I don't have a grow journal. This was a bagseed that I planted in a pot of miracle gro potting mix (the stuff with a 3 month supply of nutes) around the last week of February. I noticed the hairs for the 1st time yesterday. I'm in Southern California. I have never checked the PH level.
My concern: Lower fan leaves turning yellow and dying. I think I've read more than the average noob about how to grow and how to identify and solve this problem. After 3 months into the grow I started adding small amounts of miracle gro all purpose fertilizer: 15-30-15 NPK ratio. I did it about 1/4 strength a couple of times and recently bumped it up to 1/2 strength.
Given the size of the plant, I'm thinking it could still be deficient in Nitrogen. I was going to add some fish emulsion (5-1-1) when I water it tomorrow. The yellowing and dying leaves all started right about the 3 month stage, when my miracle gro nutes were exhausted.
My understanding is that some yellowing/dying of lower fan leaves is normal, particularly at this stage, but more than a few usually indicates a problem. I've been encouraged by reading most of Uncle Ben's posts on this topic, and understand how important these big leaves are to my plants health throughout the flowering process.
Any thoughts, advice appreciated. I've been trying the "less is more" approach, but now that I'm dealing with a girl it's gotten serious. Cheers.
