Back at OG we had a nice little group of people and when that went down most of us went our ways, some made their way over to the icmag Japan forum but that never really took off.

Cannabis consumption is taking off now here in Japan so hopefully there are more of you out there. I've been growing here for 9 years now and know a thing or 2 about growing in Japan. If you need help I'm here to ask.

I have no intention of spoiling threads or ruining them with my lack of worldly knowledge...but I always thought that Japan was extremely packed in w/ little space...obviously I know that you don't need a shopping mall to grow, but is space an issue or is that my American mind tricking me?

Space is a huge issue here so we have mostly closet grows but some people rent homes to convert. I used to run 5k in one but the electric costs are high and the rents are very expensive.

word...idc about numbers, but would you say that business is profitable out there? based on the fact that it is harder to grow w/ the limited space I would guess your profits would be exponential as compared to mine

Growing would be easier but you'd stick out like a sore thumb. Last year some south east asian growers were caught after being turned in by local farmers. People are really up into your shit here. The street price of weed is anywhere from $50~$100 per gram, so a small closet garden has a lot of value.

I'm not Japanese but I've lived here for a few decades and have a family here, not sure if that's "just live here" or not, I consider it my home, been here my whole adult life.

WHOLEY 50-100 a G!

GEEZUS.

You know how much a gram of japanese catnip goes for?

I'm growing some right now and a bunch of domestic catnip. Going to cure it out just like anyone else here would.

But you got me seriously thinking of japan now.

Well before you get all too excited release that the risk is bigger, think 7 years with labor, and just to rent a place you need 3~5 months rent up front and somebody to be your guarantor.
Rents start around $1,000 for a small place and if you want 2 bedrooms around $2,000. I'm thinking of moving this year and I'm probably going to have to spent 15k just to get the keys to an apartment. Miss the days of first, last and safety. What's worse, these bastards turn around and charge you another rent every 2 years to resign the contract. But it's getting better. Sometimes good deals where they don't charge as much as they could for what we call key money. When I first got here I almost went homeless once because I couldn't find anybody who would rent to a foreigner, nothing in their law saying they got to rent to anybody. Used to see signs that said "Dogs & Foreigners OK" in some realtors. But those fucks are all dying out, the younger generation are so different.

I was done with the idea after 7 years and labor. Ouch. Although, Thanks for sharing and God Speed.

You got a carbon filter? Keeps the neighbors from smelling. Check out my DIY thread in my sig and make a post in it.

Actually, I'm taking a vacation next year in Japan.

lol, yeah man, I got 3 running in the room, 2 phat philters and 1 DIY fish tank carbon filter. They get the job done but sometimes when I'm harvesting I get a little paranoid. At my old setup I used ozone in the external vents which is such a great way to deal with it but there is no where to vent here.

Be careful of the picture you paint with people who are not well traveled. Though your situation is possible, I would hardly say its common. In Japan, westerners have it very easy in comparison to their own country. You know what I am talking about. ;)

If you are thinking about China and/or Taiwan...they can decide to kill you if you are caught dealing.

We have a lot of Canadians here that were caught selling.

I see...

If you are a forigner in Japan then you know exactly what I am talking about. But whatever. Seems you are not really intersted in making friends in Asia that share the same interest. So I will leave it at that.

Still don't know what you're on about. I can't think of a single aspect of life in Japan that is easier as a foreigner, not one. I would love to hear what you think is easy though.
