Jarring to early

Hey everybody. I know this is probably a silly question, but what are some symptoms of jarring weed to early? The stems are not snapping clean off and the bud feels dry especially on the outside. But the taste isnt really all there and I have a little bit of black ash. I have a humidistat in the jar and never got above 60....it hovers around 55 humidity

About 5 days...I slow dried for 14 days. Then jarred. I am paranoid that I'm gonna jar too early and I dont understand how it's over dried when the stems are not breaking clean. Plus when I squeeze the bud it still has sine spring to it. Plus the dark ash and not staying lit tells me it's still not dry all the way. But the humidstat is not getting above 55 percent....I dont get it

humidistats are rarely accurate to the exact setting on the dial. In fact, humidistats are often off by as much as 10 to 20 percent.

Have you been opening the jars alot?.. if so, stop doing that. Leave them be for a few days and see what reading you get. But like Mick said, you're out of the cure zone at 55%.

Damn that sucks....does that mean its not gonna taste right? Still gets me pretty stoned so at least I got that going. Lol

I hang the whole plant leaves and all until the big stems start to break apart but not totally snap in two. Trim it up and jar it. Open 30 min 2x a day for a week. Second week, 30 min 1x a day. After that just whenever. Buds always come out super hard and smelling nice (after a few weeks). Wait til Atleast 4-5 weeks to really test smell and taste. Just my opinion. The dry and cure along with harvesting too soon is a problem for alot of people and they ruin a long process.
