Jays way of making honey

Hello all,

I’m definitely not a pro at making concentrates, but I was making hash and oil about 10-15 years ago and it was great stuff. I’ve added a bit of changes in my ways, and I’d like to share how I go about producing my home dabs, that get me stoned for hours, taste as rich as the jar of weed that made it, won’t make you cough unless you triple up....

Precautionary measures:

All procedures dealing with butane present need to be done outdoors, unless you have a system far more advanced than my open blast tube. Butane is heavier than air and pools in containers, goes down stairs, through vents and boom! To think of it, just don’t do this if you have any doubts as to ventilation.

Materials:

I will catch flak, but I have the career experience to know that ABS is inert to butane, but not generally rated for pressure. Both of these mean it’s alright for my blast tube. I use 1-1/4” ABS DWV tube in lengths from 10-16” long. Make square cuts but don’t ream the pipe. You need the seal as tight as possible, and the resin fills the void. I use stainless steel mesh as a double filter sandwiching coffee filters inside of a cap, which I DO NOT GLUE. The cap is drilled with five holes which allow flow without allowing filter push.

The injection port is just a tiny drilled hole for the butane nozzle in another ABS cap. Underneath, after packing firmly, I ball stainless steel mesh borrows from a strainer and put the injection port cap on.

The blast:

I freeze my pre ground material, tube, tube insulation( a high tech t-shirt), and butane for a few hours first. A simple bag around everything prevents lint, ground weed or other grab from dropping onto the blast plate. Sure, it’s ghetto.

I blast onto a freshly cleaned Pyrex casserole dish (with lid) lined with parchment currently. Just experimenting. I have silicone mats also. I try and fold, cut and shape the parchment so it sits flat. A drop of water UNDER it helps.

I blast 1-2 cans of Whipit 420ml cans, depending how THC rich the stuff is, and how many grams are loaded.

I blast the first can slow, moving the ABS tube out of vertical in various directions, stopping and moving it. Draw it out, as my tube is insulated it won’t start boiling. The second can goes in when 0 pressure exudes from can one. Switch them and do a medium speed blast with can two. I don’t blast too long without stopping, as dangerous pressures could possibly build up.

I do 2 boiling water baths immediately after blast, each bath being about 2-3 litres poured into a larger receptacle. The first bath does the bulk purge, the second cleans up the bulk a bit more while it’s still molten.

I have a heat mat which is how I will reach a lower heat purge overnight.

I will be upgrading to a vacuum chamber soon.

I am very happy with my house dabs, an have been averaging about. 10- 20% yields with a variety of starting materials, ranging from trim to cured bud.

I evap on parchment, then fold them
Together until I have it down to a flaky square, which melted together. It’s firm and only slightly sticky, but does not seem to stick to skin, un-like batches I purged in other ways.
