First pic is the garden bed and the spot iv actually put alot of work into over the past few years well have done what I can using wh as t I have aged horse manure and leaves dug in then mulched plus fish stuff I made in a 200 litre drum a d recently jms here's the fish stuff fish used was carp

Honestly it looks really like mostly clay. I'd add some peat moss and pumice. But that soil is probably pretty rich, so it looks like a good starting point actually. I'm just being a smartass. Can't help it. I was born like this,

All good nothing wrong with having a bit of fun ye it's red dust out there but where that is is near a river so it like floods lot of find particles is mostly clay the challenge is j can only use what's like around me as I'm in the middle of no where it days like cement I had to soak the fuck out of it than dig in organic matter it's probably 3 feet wide and 12 feet long dug in like 4 wheel barrows of aged dry horse manure also this was during before a 8 year flood ended in summer where it gets fucking hot after j got the it wet and organic matter dug in I'd keep mulching it after that there's heaps of worms lol until people went in there grew some pretty good pumpkins

Soil health is measured in fatty acid content. The only thing separating hydro from soil. You'd think pot growers would choose microbes and inputs that created the best fatty acid profile, since lipoxygenase products literally define the crops value.

I didn’t see this thread until now but my guess was going to be heavy clay in a flood plain and it sounds like I was pretty close. If you have access to lots of tree debris, you should make a retort furnace and generate a bunch of charcoal to make biochar with your horse poop and organic material simply remove a bunch of that clay and replace it to a depth of 2-3’ . I’ve been doing it for a couple of years now, holy shit what a difference it makes.
