Just a little bit more light!

So my bloom room is 5'x5'x7'6". I have one 400 watt HPS light which does fill the room nicely with light. But as with many grow rooms the canopy gets the best light and the bottom area suffers. I added a 125 watt CFL at 2700k to get a little more light down under. It seems to be pushing more light to the bottom of the plants so all is well to that respect. So what I'm wondering is, has anybody ever had any bad results by combining HPS and CFL lights together during bloom?

Mix away fella, but you are very under lit.

yup as corey said imo its better to get one strong powerful light then mix other leds around it that's what I would do but 400 watt hps for a 5x5 is no where near enough

Unfortunately, physics is working against you. The area you're trying to illuminate is too large for the meager photon output of your 400-watt HPS. That means the amount of photons per unit of area isn't enough to support good growth. That's what PPFD is measuring-you need approx. double the amount of photons to get good growth.

Ive seen 1000 watt HPS lights still not get enough light down low into the plant. This is more for side lighting than adding more light to the canopy of the plants. Ive seen grows where farmers only want big fat flowers on the top but I'm looking to get flowers on the entire plant as well. I should have mentioned that im trying to improve side lighting and not more light from above.

Strain has a lot to do with it to. This mcc im running is thin mint cookies dom so the whole plant is lanky and grows nice popcorn buds everywhere that are dense. But I’m only using like 300 watts in a 4x4 area and I have only rocks so idk

This is what i was using before i went back to my 400 watt HPS. This DE light was nothing but trouble and put out meager light. Ruined my last grow i used it for IMO. Took almost 3 weeks to start flowering and that was the same for the 2 different strains at the time. Normally only takes about a week or so with these same two strains and my little 400 watter.

umm 400-825 watts. a de pulls like 1100?
