Kali Mist ScrOG info needed

Hi, I'm about to embark upon my first grow.

For various reasons, I've decided upon a soil ScrOG of a single plant, from seed to harvest (no clones/mothers).

I'll be building the enclosure, and was going to make it 2' x 3' to match the light I'm getting (one of the new x-lens Penetrator LED's 126x).

However, I know that Kali has quite long internodal lengths and need to know what kind of height above the base of the plant I need to put the screen. As I'm only growing a single plant, I want to make it as productive as possible.

I can't go hydro as there will be occasions where I can't be home to monitor water/nutes etc. so need a buffer (hence the soil).

Can anyone give me a good indication of the height required for the screen? Also, I was hoping to get away with not using a CFL for the veg stage - would putting the LED at maximum height above the plant be ok or would that be too much?

Welcome to SCROG! I'm just finishing up my first SCROG grow now. I think it's going to make a huge difference in my yields from the non-SCROG grows. I have learned a few lessons along the way though. First and foremost....take some time to plan where you're pulling the branches to. I ran out of room on the outside of my screen (mostly where I have the sativa that continued stretching for a while after 12/12)- but have a few bare spots towards the middle.

To answer your question...I put my screen about 10-12 inches above the plants....and that seems pretty standard. The space between the internodes shouldn't matter as long as you have enough screen and flip it while you still have spots left - cause once it's full - you're toast.

Thanks for that, 12 inches it is. When you say "and flip it while you still have spots left" - what exactly do you mean? Not heard this before.

I need to read up a bit more on the training aspect of scrog, but a simple answer would be great...anyone?

I've written lots of documentation in the past, so hopefully I will be able to put together a comprehensive journal, including everywhere I bought the items - the shopping list is effin huge! even without Hydro.
