how does it take to nutes? is it a heay feeder? does it clone well? when does it show preflowers? i would like to try to get a mothe rplant of this strain and would like to know the best way to go about it. i grow in soil organically.
I never have a problem with nutes, I underfeed if anything. Never a nute burn, no deficiencies. I don't do anything special, just Fox Farm solubles and additives during flower. Easy resilient plant.
I feed 1/2 tsp of FF Beastie Bloomz per watering, I halved the usual amounts and feed every watering rather than skip a watering.
It clones easy and fast, 3-7 days in a bubbler depending on how good of a cutting I take.
Preflowers. It was so long ago, I got only 1 female of 4 seeds ... I remember getting the 3 males first (of course) and thinking "Oh fuck ...". Honestly I can't remember, I'd be guessing.
Heed MTM's advice on height, I had clones that went from 1.5" to ~36". She's got legs.
In hydro the buds are more spread out, more sativa like, and so crusted with trichomes that they look like they'd snap if you bent them. In soilless it's more compact, you have to watch for mold in the summer with a large single cola. I got a 18 week pheno that I've got down to 15-16 weeks, it's so good I don't mind the wait. I think I would have been dissapointed with the shorter flowering indica pheno.
So for picking a mother: label all plants; take a clone from each plant and label; flower out the plants taking notes on growing; cure for 4 weeks; see which high you like and forget about everything else and keep that mother, toss the others.
Some Kali Mist pics for fun. The three tall single colas in the back right are the 3 clones that stretched from 1.5" to ~36"
Kali Mist soilless cola.
.
The two Kali Mist together outside the cage. The 4 cola was vegged in promix to 14" and ended up 38". Very dense buds. The single cola is the DWC, fluffy buds but crusty with trichs, from 5" in veg to 47". On the 4 cola plant, the stem in the middle - you can see the dark green bamboo stick I used as a splint. The colas are dense and heavy and two of the stems almost snapped.

The plant on the left is a Kali Mist grown CCOB.
