Feel free to weigh in if the mood strikes.

Ordered 13 beans of key lime chem from seeds here now. Germinated them direct in soil. I used Coast of Maine (com) seed starting mix. Growing under six 30-watt T8 bulbs in a 2x4 tent. Started March 9th.

I labeled each one based on when they popped, A1, A2, etc.

Feeling pretty good at this point having success germinating 11 out of 13 beans. The other couple of peat pots that didn't pop got tossed into a bucket and mixed up for my tomato starts.

I obviously culled the tomato seedlings in that pot and ended up with A12!

Mar 28th and the seedlings are doing well for the most part. A1, A2, A4, A6, A7, A8, A12 all have their first set of leaves. The rest are just stalling with no new leaf growth.

Also around this time, I noticed what looked like gnats coming out of the unopened bag of Big Rootz soil. So I got some sticky traps and sure enough, my plants had some fungus gnats. Not the way I wanted to start the grow. I dumped that bag into a tote and put a sticky card along with it too see what I was dealing with.

April 19th and the plants moved into a 3x3 with an HLG 350R for the light. A1, A2, A4, A6, A7, A8, and A12 are in 1 gallon pots and rolling along. Unfortunately, the rest of the seedlings that popped, stopped growing and didn't produce and new growth. Into the compost they went.

A couple of days later and I noticed damage on leaves and something shiny on those leaves. So I'm addition to the gnats, the soil came with thrips. Good times.

Currently the grow is in 1 gallon fabric pots 3.5 weeks into veg Soil medium So I got bit real bad by a bag of Big Rootz soil. Stuff is garbage, literally. Found bits of plastic in the soil. I didn't notice any bugs when I was potting up my plants from their original solo cup, but then noticed...

Couple of weeks after the pest problem is dealt with, it is time to pot up into 3 gallon pots. Switch to COM Stonington mix to get away from that big rootz trash.

I also topped the plants with the exception of A12 which hasn't fully caught up to the rest after hiding with the tomato plants for a couple weeks.

I needed to upgrade the airflow under the pots and allow for runoff collection. Rather than do individual pot risers I bought a washer drain pan and a 20" x 6' closet shelf. Cut the shelf with a hack saw to cut the width of the drain pan and used snips to clean out an area to shop vac the runoff (not pictured).IMG_20210520_190125.jpg

Took clones from some cuts and a few of the topped sections. 7 days later on May 28th I took these plugs and potted up into solo cups. These will go into 1 gallon pots in another week, get topped, then move into the 3x3 tent for a flower run. Doing a pheno hunt and just want a small batch of each one to see what the flower is like.

A1 and A2 were dudes. I showed off my excellent defoliation skills using these plants and got some props from a few frequent forum members. #blessed

I setup the 2x4 tent in preparation for the mother plants to move in. I arranged a metal wire shelving unit with one shelf all the way at the top where I mounted the 200 watts of T8 lighting. That gives roughly 30" of clearance to the next shelf. Another shelf spaced 4 inches below that will allow for runoff collection from the mother plants. That last shelf has an LED shop light attached for propagation, and had enough clearance for a tray with clone dome to be moved in and out of the tent.IMG_20210531_094339.jpg

Still haven't given these plants any nutes. I should have another 2 weeks of original nutrients to use up from the Stonington blend soil, then will amend with some dry soil amendments and ewc moving forward.

One of the phenos, A8 is really expressing this leaf discoloration. Some of the others have a single leaf with it, but this plant has it all over. The clones taken from this plant also express it, so it's not a deficiency or issue, but curious what this means for the plant in general and if the genetics are wonky.

Topped all the clones on June 5th.

Transplanted from the solo cups to 1 gallon pots June 10th. Watered in the transplants and have 7oz of recharge solution.

Moved all mother plants to the veg tent and set up the clones to get used to the higher intensity HLG at a dimmed level.

I think that's just the leaf veriagation(not sure on spelling) from the chem, alot of plants that have chem genetics have it to some degree, some worse than others.
No harm to plants from my experience, at least you know it's got the real deal chem in there.
Best chem Cross I ever grew had it- chemdog sour diesel, kick myself all the time for getting rid of it.

@JustBlazin that's what I was thinking after some more research. I had a bit of paranoia give me the thought that it was tobacco mosaic virus, but I'm confident it is the genetics.

Set the 12/12 light schedule today.

If I've learned anything about when to harvest from reading the forum, I should blindly trust the flower dates on the seed packet. In this case, all plants will be harvested in 8-9 weeks.
