King Tut's Tomb: stoned.gnome & metalchef666 first grow ever (indoor, rubbermaid)

First off, this entire set-up was all based off of what we found on RiU so much thanks to everyone. After many bowls, beers and much research, we are finally at the stage of waiting for our seeds. We finally got everything to where we can be happy with it.
SET-UP
- 1x 31gal Rubbermaid container (w/ lid)
- 1x 10'x3' sheet of ??? (cant remember name but it is black on one side and white on the other, same purpose as mylar just 10-15% less reflection)
- 1x Homemade SCRoG (made from 3/8" dowel rods bought at craft store and hot glued together)
- 1x Homemade Exhaust Unit w/ Carbon Filter (made from a 140mm PC fan, a huge 7/11 slurpee cup, pantyhose with active carbon in it and ductape)
- 1x Homemade Passive Induction (made from a PVC elbow piece and ductaped the inside black)
- 1x 3gal Smart Pot w/ water tray
- 2x 80mm PC fans (inside air circulation. All 3 pc fans spliced and hooked to one 12v DC adapter)
- 2x Porcelain Light Fixtures and the 8ft wire cords (got from WalMart. One has a plug in socket on it which the 12V adapter goes into.)
- 2x Mogul Sockets (only one is in right now)
- 2x 35w CFL 6500K Bulbs
- 2x 30w CFL 2700K Bulbs
- 1x 125w CFL 6500K Bulb
- 1x 125w CFL 2700K Bulb
- 1x Foxfarm: Oceanforest Soil
- 1x Earthworm Castings
- 1x King Tut (Pyramid) Feminized Seed

Used a SHITLOAD of duct tape and aluminum duct tape. We also used industrial velcro. More pics to come. Some of these were taken as we were
constructing it. Some are of it after its finished. Seeds are en route Feel free to make suggestions, ask questions, etc.

Nice. Thats what I like about RiU. Information is abundant and everywhere! lol. But I saw you were saying you were having a temp problem in your O'matic grow. What caused it and what was the problem. I'm trying to see if i need to prepare for anything lol.

my grow is in a cabinet inside an outdoor shed .... at the moment so its hard to dial in a constant temp when the shed drops 5-10 degrees daily... but i sorted out the cold spikes by using a small vivirum heater .... and have now a constant ... it never goes above 80f daytime.... or below 65 at night ... i'm now germing my third set of seeds to grow in my cabinet and i'm about a week from my second harvest.... so i've mostly ironed out most of the problems that i can have a control over, and i'm pulling enough weed to keep me in constant smoke so i'm happy with that

That's all we're trying to do. plant, harvest, smoke, repeat lol. Ok I see the problems came from its outside enviroment. I'm just hoping ours keeps a good humidity and temp and if not something that's easily fixed lol. But I have REAL high hopes for this (all puns intended). I'm just ready for the seeds to arrive so we can start. I'm itching to get it going lol.

one thing i found works really well ... i came up against low humidity while veggin .... it wasn't reading any at all! ... but i hung a damp bath towel in my cabinet and i got instant 50% humidity readings, and it stayed damp for a couple of days ... really cheap affective fix for low humidity

ok. I know we were thinking of a bowl with water in it (thats what metalcef666 read somewhere on here) to help keep humidity right. I'm guessing you would change or check the towel every couple of days to prevent mold, mildew, etc.?

yes i threw mine back in the wash with a general load every couple of days ... kept it supa fresh... never had a single mould or spidermite since i've been growing indoors.... i had both with my greenhouse grow... the things you get to control indoors is rediculus, and its really easy and cheap working with pc fans, cfl's .....


i started with a pc case and found it impossible to cool even with 3x 5" pc fans... so i kitted out the small wardrobe with three 125w cfl's and a viv heater.... its done me proud, i have a 600w hps setup for when we've moved house, but i'll use the small cab until i've finished my current two crops of autos

at the moment i have 2x green o'matics... 1x Critical jack ... and i've started 2 x pineapple Express autos to replace the 2 GOM's i'm about to consume

Ahh I see. I'm hoping our setup works. It seems to me that if peeps can grow inside a small ass pc case, we'll EASILY be able to in a rubbermaid. What's the heater for? Wouldn't 3 125w CFL's keep it nice in there already? I noticed in our setup that it really doesn't get too hot but its def warmer inside than outside it (for example our house is at 70 F and the inside of the rubbermaid feels about 10 degrees warmer) so I'm hoping that means we're good on keeping the heat at the right area zone.

ok so i just mixed our soil, prepping it for the arrival of tutankhamun im going with a mix of Fox Farms Ocean Forrest and some earthworm castings just for a little boost in nutes all around . Heres a pic !

the little heater is because my cabinet is in an outside shed .... and as soon as the lights go out it drops from 75f ... to 40f in seconds lol ... the little heater is thermastaticly controled so as soon as it goes below 70f it kicks in and keep it above 65f all the while the lights are out.... with your setup being indoors you wont need extra heating.

O yeah. I forgot you said you had yours outside in a shed lol. Damn I'm slow lol

its alright mate it comes with being a stoner lol....... just harvested one of my GOM's ..... couldn't wait .... or bring myself to pay for shite weed lol... can't wait for it to dry now..... 4 days or so should do it

LOL. we got the same problem. we out and cant get shit till like tomorrow. Theres a dude who has shitty mids but I dont even want to disappoint myself by getting that lol
