Okay so this is my 2nd grow.

Hydro
Made my own mini DWC (2 pot)
Nutes = GHE (3 bottles)
started 27/4/10

vs
Soil
Mix = potting soil , chicken manure, vermiculite
no fertz added yet.
started 19/4/10

Lights
250w mh and 400w hps
both active for 18 hours (veg) alternating for equal spread.

Notes...the hydro growth is wild and insane. The soil looks normal.

what ppm on the hydro, i wonder how it compares to the nute values in the soil
i think you are delivering two different nute values, which doesn't do much for the test

Sorry, i'm still a noob... I don't have ppm meter. I just wanted to do the test as a "first-timer". You are definitely correct on the nute values....they must be different.
So far the hydro seems to be leaving the soil grow in the "dirt". Alot of people are sold on the soil taste...

Were the plants clones from a same mother or from seed? If from seed you won't have an accurate comparison. The reason I'm saying this is I'm also doing a hydro and soil grow from seeds and I don't think there's anyway one could see which one is "better" from seeds (too many different phenos). What I have found was that if I was only running one strain all clones from the same mom hydro is great but I plan on running multiple strains and eventually going perpetual and that's where the soil wins out for me because it makes it so much easier to adjust my canopy. Now if you just plan on having a couple plants a couple DWC rubbermaids would be manageable. Soil is also better at correcting individual plant deficiencies and makes it easier to flush at the end. In my ebb and grow I have some plants that are heavy feeders and others that will tell you when it's time to flush and then all of them will finish at different times making flushing inside the system impossible. I set out not to see which one would yield more but which system would work for my individual needs in the future and I think that is a much better way to go about looking at it.

Thanks for the reply Teejay...
You certainly have a more scientific approach than what i used for this grow. All the plants were grown from seed. All the seeds were from the same strain.(regular seeds)
For me the test was on a far more basic level...for this grow. Since this was the first time i was growing in this environment and with hydroponics.
I too prefer soil...its just looks better than the mutant hydro.
