rubbing alcohol only kills adults & not the eggs, hopefully the lady bugs will get all or most of the eggs. after 2-3 weeks if there are any eggs they will hatch. Then you can either get more lady bugs or look into a product like Azamax.

same as your plants roots like, 6.5. start of with a light ratio on the azamax label. if your plants do well, and you still have mites, bump it up to the low end of the mid strength ratio. mites hatch at different rates depending on your heat and humidity. in normal grow room conditions, spraying every third day catches them before they have a chance to reproduce much. maintain your spraying schedule for at least two weeks or until you are sure the mites are gone.

also if you're using HID's raise your lights when you spray and leave them up for a few hours, until the leaves are dry.

hey man, i have been at battle with these fuckers too. I am growing outside which is easier to manage i guess. i built a hole on the ground near the plants, wearing camouflage, just wait for them to get near my plant then i let the c-4 explosives go, throw grenades lol jk

seriously feel like doing that shit. But i read rosemary oil from your health food store works, i read it kills the eggs as well. I was looking for it around where i live, they only have peppermint oil. i guess i will try that out. i read somewhere that thats stronger. Just use about 9ml and mix it with water.

I also made a garlic hot sauce spray, that seemed to kill most of them. hit them with different things every other day. hit them with the hose knock some off. I even pick some off from under the leaves and bite their heads off, see if they like that shit!

put the ladybugs in at the start of the night cycle. for some reason the hid lighting kills them dead. i learn this the sad way. by unknowingly sending hundreds to their doom. predatory mites are a much better solution. they consume the spider mites & just die when the food source runs out.

I been fighting spider mites for a couple years now, tried just about everything.
Haven't heard of Azamax though, I'll check it out. Thanks.

My idea has always been to get some sort of screen made out of monofilament so its clear with holes that are about 1/8 inch thick sos light will still shine through well. Then you get the ladybugs and loadup the pots with them and then cover the whole plant lightly with the screen and fucking let the mites fry. Problem with the ladybugs is they move out. Of course you have to manage the screen sos it doesn't mess up the plant.

Make sure you spray the Azamax on both the tops and undersides of the leaves since thats where the mites hang out

yeah! i like the idea of the screen because theres a chance a lady bug will hit the line and stay there than decide to go back down.. rather than just having them all scatter away from the crop.

so when u guys order lady bugs.. do they ship a cup of lady bugs that are still alive or in egg form or whaaa? if anything i might just head down to my hydro store and pick sum up along with some fox farm soil :]

hey guys i have a ? can u keep em alive in a 8x12 grow room? and would a dozen or so keep the plants clean and free of freeloaders?

you would need a quite a few to control a 8x10 room, but indoors ladybugs tend to fly into the lamps and fry themselves. NLNo5's idea of the net is interesting. sometimes when you fog a plant with insecticide you build a frame around it with 1x1's and cover it with plastic. maybe you could do a similar thing but use nylon window screen.

do you think ud loose much light with a screen wrapped around it

you would lose probably 50% of your light, but you wouldn't need to leave the cover on permanently. after a day or two the bugs should have done their job, especially if you use a bunch of them.

Pretty sure Azamax will also kill your lady bugs if you use them at the same time. Keep that in mind if you're going for both methods
