Late flowering growth at 10 weeks into flower

This strain is called ICE. It has a normal flower period of 10-11 weeks. I am just finishing up the 11th week and I noticed at about the 9th week into flower additional growth spikes coming from the buds. They are long and spindly and not tight. Does anybody have any experience with this and advice to match.

I have some of these crazy buds too. lol. They are a cross mix that I spiced and thought that that was why, but i'm not sure. They are about in the 10th week also. I think it's pure genetics. They smoke really well, but look a little funky.

It's called foxtailing. It's usually genetic, particularly with high percentage Sativa hybrids. It can be caused by heat stress, letting them go too long or the light too close. Probably not the case here. It's really nothing to worry about, they smoke fine. Don't sell very well though.
Damn Dogg, those are some crazy looking buds!

Yeah I've attributed most of ones that I've cone across, with some sort of stress. More often than not it's from heat stress, or a botched SCROG atempt...Looks wild though man, good shit!

Thanks for the feedback. I'm going straight water tomorrow and will have the ladies on a nice flush for a couple weeks. They're turning more purple every day.

Most likley heat stress from my expierience. whats a trip is that it has affected some lower buds on my current grow that were near the lights. I just trim em off when they're for sale. good luck

huh... got the same thing, nice to see others with the same thoughts... yeah mine have been stressed I will say

My peeps know the strain and they don't seem to care about the look. They prefer it over others. Me too for that matter. They do look nutty though. lol. There was a reference to a strain also called Mr. Grinspoon. It looked almost exactly the same. Super cerebral high that keeps on going. It seems to be a favorite amongst people I know. So, no worries here. I don't think they were stressed because I pulled out 2 very Purp plants a month ago that were nice thick heathy budage. I think messin' with the genetics by splicing them together might have had more to do with it. I get bored with the regular and try different things genetically, this is always an adventure in learning.:weed:

As mentioned above this is called fox tailing. This is a genetic trait. I have never see this associated with heat stress. If this were heat stress the leaves would have been damaged around the buds as well. I dont see this in the pics.

I have had this happen to a few different strains, usually the ones that do it have a tendency to be a tad bit stronger. Its actually a trait i look for in my breeding.
