Alright, so I live in Southern China, and have a personal garden on my roof. The dirt bud that I get usually has seeds in it, so I figured "what the hell", and decided to have my gardener plant them up on the roof last week. I know that planting well is far more involved, but I might as well try, right?
Now, I have a couple questions. First of all, I know that the quality won't be good, as I'm planting them (really) late and using crappy seeds. It's more of a proof of concept to myself than anything. I had about 8 seeds and planted them way too close to eachother; I figure I'll deal with this if and when they sprout. Anyway:
- The weather in South China is hot pretty much all year round, extremely sunny, and gets tons of rain. Is this an ok environment or will the plants struggle? Are there certain strains that would be better for this environment?
- The seeds were just planted, and there's a tropical storm coming our way. Should we do anything to improve the seeds' chances? Will the heavy rain be good for them, or will it drown them?
- Everything I read is from the perspective of growing in Canada/The USA, are there any resources available for growing in this kind of environment? We're about as far south as Nicaragua.
Thanks!
