Leak Proof aero cloner

Hi everyone especially Old stinkbuddies and the new generation in aero nft. about 5 years ago I was struggling with water leaks in my DIY aerocloner. Everytime I was going out it was a very extressful moment thinking all the time in my cloner leaking all the water out. I already tried Rubbermaid roughnecks, strong boxes from HD and they will leak at some point with out any modification.

Here is the tote that I use now is called Rubbermaid Brute tote. they are very sturdy, food grade and most important they dont leak. they cost around $25. Here is the part number: 20 Gal Brute FG9S3100GRAY

I would like to see pictures of your roots.

Typically, lpa roots look like long soggy spaghetti noodles

If that's your experience, try a deep cycle timer with <30 seconds on ~ 3 minutes off

Thanks for the advice. I’m running now 90 second on and 10 minutes off, tap water only.

I will try that on my next batch, thanks.

yep, and it'll get worse

These were started as seeds in DWC BUT using 4 large air stones

but you can get these by changing to a deep cycle timer

Dude! I had no idea. That’s a Killer tip,know why a timed cycle causes that?

Anyway I’ll be buying a new timer. Many thanks!

Lessons learned from doing HPA (High Pressure Aero)

Root cells need time to process the nutrients. Constant feeding keeps the cells closed down

when the root chamber is misted the roots develop secondary root hairs to feed on the nutrient mist

here is how im going to make my own neoprene inserts using sams rubber floor mats and 2 1/8" hole saw for 2" net pot inserts.

Those foam carpet tiles they make for kiddies play areas work well too...
I use it under my smaller aquariums instead of foamalite.

I love DIY but unless they've gotten expensive since I bought mine ~ 6 years ago,foam inserts aren't expensive and last forever
