LOL Just curious why Fox Farm nute line has such a bad wrap with some folks.
I been using it since I was a newborn grower, never had issues. I get great results while following the schedule and keeping my ph as recommended. I dont get it....whats the problems you had with FF to say it sucks...

They all work well, if used properly. I think that might be some of the dislike of FF. Why spend so much when you can get just as good for less? I use them simply because someone bought several bottles for me to try out. I will continue to use it until it is all gone.

"My plant has problems. Soil is FFOF. HELP!!!!! ARE MY PLANTS OKAY??"

That's why I don't like fox farms. I'm sure the soil is okay, but the type of people who buy the soil tend to have no idea how to use soil, or they wouldn't be buying it at a weed gardening store.

I'm noticing that in forums and such FF is sometimes getting the label as being for noobs. I don't completely understand it myself, and I've used it most of the time during my 3 years of indoor growing.
Now I'm sure stuff like Subs Supersoil is amazing stuff but its not feasible for me to aquire a shopping list of ingredients and cook it in the sun for 3 weeks and end up with 4 garbage cans of medium.
I'm just a little indoor grower, and I prefer to use something right out of the bag with a cut of perlite in it and FF achieves what I want to do.
I've tried the nutrient line as far as the trio pack but honestly I think Dyna-Gro works just as well if not better.
I have to keep it as simple as possible or it wouldnt be any fun for me. I would like to try Pro-Mix sometime but there again, I don't need a bale of the stuff.
Oh, and BTW, I used to buy it at a Hydro store and paid too much for it until I found a little landscaping shop that lets it go for $ 16.00 a bag and it works for me.
I also once switched to Roots707 at the suggestion of a guy at the grow store and I didnt like the results at all. My growth was a lighter green all the way through and switching back to FF ended that problem.
Lastly, it beats the living hell out of Miracle Gro :)

You do not need half of subs ingredients you also do not need to cook soil in the sun. The natural processes will happen as long as the soil is kept somewhat warm, I don't know exact temps but room temperature has worked fine for me. I have made my soil indoors in a 50 liter rubbermaid tub for the last year and a half. With products I can buy at Homedepot except EWC which I venture to the hydro store to get as even the local nurseries don't seem to have caught on.

3 cups of amendments per cubic foot of soil has made my soil wonderful for the last couple years. Just balance your amendments NPK values roughly, it's all I do. You can take a much more scientific approach then I do, I'm rather laid back about the whole thing. I like to keep it very simple. I'm a small indoor grower too, that's why the quality of my medicine is super important to me. Last year I think I may have spent $50 on amendments, this year I added a few things to my cabinet. The soil lasted me all year then went on my veggies and flower beds which are doing spectacular. I'll brew teas too, with a scoop of my soil mix and a cup of EWC some Blackstrap Molasses and boom. Plants love that shit like you wouldn't believe.

Also I have found half bails of promix at my local HD type stores. It's cut with a small amount of perlite I added more, they had a few different kinds where I'm at, I used Promix all purpose(red bag) potting soil. Said it was organic and seemed to work well other then it shrinks a lot as it dries. I think they had a better one in a light blue bag but I forget the name :)

Organics looks scary :) I was under the same impressions when I was looking into it. Decided to jump in face first and have had great results and I stand by the fact I barely know what I'm doing :)

I have enough amendments left over from my first year I can probably do 3 more years of soil lol.

40% FFOF, 40% Happy Frog, 15% perlite, and the remaining 5% a mix of worm castings, blood meal, bone meal, dolomite lime and mykos. That bill ( for about 32 gallons of soil ) will cost you about $60 and require no nute purchases. Make a few worm casting/bat guano teas for veg and some bat guano/molasses/banana teas for flower. Easy Peezy !!!!!

And the best part? Your soil is recyclable since you introduced few, if any salts. Just mix some of the old soil with some of the new soil and rock on. Obviously you need more new soil mixed with the old soil, but as time goes on you are saying to yourself, "Shit, I spend less and less $ every year doing this awesome hobby !!!!" WINNING !!!!
