Leaves are dying in every possible way... Root rot??

Hello fellas,
I am experiencing severe problems with an indoor plant. Basically this is my second time growing weed, so I consider myself a total newbie. Expert opinion needed!
Started with two plants, a sativa and an indica-dominant, and veg stage went great, with plants growing tall and healthy. After some time in the bloom stage, the sativa started showing problems, with the upper leaves drying up and browning at the tips. Thought that was heat burn, so moved the light further away from the plants. That didnt stop the problem and gradually ALL the leaves in the plant dryed up completely. Some leaves at the bottom didn't dry instead they wilted and fell. No matter what I did (checking nutrients, improving air circulation) this continued until in the whole plant not a single leaf remains and the plant has basically died. I'm not even posting pictures, too heartbroken.
I attributed this to a delicate strain that couldn't recover from heat burn, as the other plant WAS doing great. Then recently started seeing the same signs on the other plant! Now I'm really worried... As you can see the leaves are drying from the tips mostly without changing colour. Some of them turn into yellow-brownish. There also seems to be a discoloration at the upper buds which didnt appear in the previous plant. Some fan leaves are wilting without drying, and the whole plant is starting to worryingly droop on a side.

My main guess is root rot cause it's displaying so many different symptoms, I don't believe its heat burn cause putting the light further away didnt do anything. If someone has seen the same thing, please help!

My setup:
Indoor growing in tent, MarsHydro reflector LED light, 100W (currently at half power for blooming). Soil is general-purpose compost with vermiculite. Nutrients: mix of Miracle-Gro (general purpose NPK) and cactus fertilizer (for added micronutrients). Tent is vented day and night. Temp is around 24°C and humidity under 40%. nutrient issues common when miracle grow is mentioned most times.
mold could flourish on those damaged leaves.
 
Idk what you've got going on there. But I do know that root problems can throw about every bad looking thing at you. Not a lot of help, good luck man.

Maybe try an all purpose like down to earth. It has a little of everything. If it starts looking better you'll know it's deficiency and can start narrowing it down.
 
You're killing them with those crappy nutes and looks like you're giving them too much of it.

Something like a general purpose compost is supposed to be added to soil to enrich it, not to be used as soil so with all the nutes in that plus the toxic ones you're adding and likely your tap water the leaves are saturated with salts and burning up. Nute balances are all off too causing lock-outs.

You need to brush up on the basics and it might be a good time to learn to clone and maybe get some cuttings off that plant for another go. Could flush it and see if that helps too.

What about those white flakes on the leaves. Looks kinda like Powdery Mildew?
