Growing purple kush and green crack under a 1000 watt hps in a 5x5 grow tent using mills nutrients in the 4th week of flower, always ph the nutrient feeding to 6.0 and when I plain water I also ph to 6.0. Ran about 3 gallons through today to check ph runoff and it was 5.5. Don’t think that’s the issue. Removed a box fan I had that was in front of an intake flap in side of tent today also think it’s possibly drying out the stem to much, doubt it, but I’m trying anything at this point. Oh, I have two green cracks and two purple kush in 7 gallon pots and the green crack are just beautiful.1B157D8F-483A-428C-9EE2-75501C244283.jpeg26A6AF4D-314B-4B04-B874-B0E54CBDD82F.jpegThese are the purple kush.E70461F6-0615-415F-BB3F-888DDB2B75DC.jpegthis is the green crack lookin amazing!

So I’ve never really given my plants heavy nitrogen in flower, mills nutrients uses Start-R two weeks into flower, which is high in nitrogen, me thinks the purple kush I should not use that next time, or should I just flush the plants really good after those two weeks into flowering before I add the C-4 nutrients?

Have you tried a higher ph?Say 6.2-6.4?

And PM can build up salts kinda easy.Just my opinion but 7gl pots aren't really needed unless you're using an organic style medium.I'll guarantee they are not full of roots so you're askin for trouble with high ppm's and ph being off. Those nutes just build up in areas with out roots. What kind of regimen do you use with your feeding?Do you feed every water, feed water feed, water once a week?

I have been feeding every watering with a full dose of nutrients, definitely my fault. I used fox farm last cycle and I kept the ph at around 6.4 and never had much issues, I water fed water. This cycle I started using mills nutrients as I got the mills lineup for free at a grow show and it says to ph between 5.8 and 6.2. I am willing to try a 6.2-6.4 if it will help, wasn’t sure why these Nutes required such a low ph?

Vertnugs is absolutely right. I have recently made that mistake of putting a plant in too large of a pot, the salts built up in the outer areas and then when the roots finally hit that area it caused a series of problems that I'm still working on getting past.@hotrodharley recommended to skewer my medium in order to aerate it, which I did using essentially a shish kabobo over the course of a few days before the next watering. It's definitely helped a lot.

Graduated containers during veg helps prevent salts build up and greatly speeds plant growth. Simple principle. The plant doesn’t start vertical growth until roots touch boundaries.

Dixie cup > 2 quart > 1 gallon. At this point there should be adequate root mass to allow transplant into a 5 gallon with very little transition time for root development.

Now consider the root mass under the plant is as old as the rest of it. This turns into a thick hardened mass. The mass will hold excess nutes. Pierce the hell out of this with a thin barbecue skewer. Repeatedly. Do the entire medium at least once a week. It aerates the medium, allows oxygen to the upper roots and helps spread your water and feed evenly and to the bottom.

You won’t like the feeling the first time you poke the root mass but trust us it won’t hurt the plants.

Thanks for all the info, that’s good stuff. I will be transplanting in smaller pots next time for sure. The purple kush was lookin about the same today but I’m sure it takes a little while to bounce back, i have only given the plants the water from the flush so no Nutes in there, I’m thinking I should wait until they are a little healthier to give Nutes.

Update: plants were super airy with little thc, giving it to a buddy to make treats.
Decided not to give up though, and see if I could get this purple kush back in line. It is end of second week and ran into the same issues with the leaves clawing and canoeing, flushed again and checked runoff, it was only 600 ppms. I have been phing the water at 6.3. I’m thinking the medium is just wet right now so recovery will take a couple more days. The buds look way better then they did last run, this is the last attempt though, I need the space. Also I did not give any nitrogen after the start of flower this time. Leaves are really light green and I’m thinking these plants need some calmag soon.
