You should water it whenever most of the soil is dry, not just the topsoil. The leaves might droop slightly after you water, but they perk back up within an hour.
don't water until you lift your plant and it feels light like it has no water you can tell if the bottom is still wet by how it feels when you pick it up.if you have more then one plant don't be surprised if they use the water at different speeds
