Led and hid lighting

using 2 led lights 220 California and a 50 illumitex , along with a 400w mh/hps I have a dr meter ph/temp/light meter and holding the meter up to the hid mh light to the glass is shows low to low+ lighting . But when puting it up to the led light 10 inches away it says normal to high and closer it reads high + so my question is why would the hid not be reading high light but the led is ... What does people recommend for a lighting lumens meter .

Par meter

You're not getting the full intensity of all of the light put out right next to the bulb. When you move further away you actually are getting more of the entirety of the light/more photons. Think about the way the reflector and beam angle work to collect and focus the light.

I Dnt no if you understood my question ... My led light at the glass reads high light , my hid at the glad reads low or low + at my plants on the two led sides it reads normal but at 10 inches with my hid mh bulb it reads low that's crankin all this ballets will do that's even on super lumen mode haha ... Is it important to has a par meter and what should the ideal reading be with the amount of light I got ... I've got my hid light above everything set at 10 inches , my 200 w led is on one side roughly a foot to the closest plant and the 50 on the other side 8 inches to closet plant ... Is this ideal or should I move closer at 10 inches with hid that covers all my plants any lower well you know it only focus on the center so yea

that's a lux meter. not a par meter

Lux is a measurement that is tuned for brightness to humans. Par is an overall photon count in the 400-700 nm range which is basically what drivers photosynthesis. Apogee make a meter that hooks to a laptop for 199 that would be an excellent choice. A lux meter is good for light placement as long as you are using the same type Lights ie all hps or all 3000k cobs.
