LED Grow 12/12 from seed with Jack the Ripper

Hey guys. I started this grow with HPS lighting from seed, but at day 11, switched to LED lighting. I don't like the heat from lamps, electricity costs, and all the wiring from both hood, ballast, and inline fans to keep the hood cool. Too much for me, so I'm giving LED's a shot.

My Nutrients are as follows:
Sensi Grow A and B
Sensi Bloom A and B
General Organics: Diamond Black, Bio Bud, CalMag, BioThrive Grow, BioThrive Bloom, Bio Root, Bio Weed, Bio Marine
BC: BC grow, BC Bloom, BC Boost, Sugar daddy, root riot, magical, thrive alive b-1, Olivias Cloning solution, AwesomeBlossom.
As you can see, I use very different kinds of nutrients. I like all of these products, and combined together, they make a nutrient mix very similar to the AdvancedNutrients packets.

I have a secret Jardin twin tent, 4x4, and im only using the bottom part of the tent; 4x4x5.7 ft. The top part is in my storage closet, and I will pull it out for drying and curing. Its dimensions are 4x4x2'. My veg room is 4x4 as well and have a slant in the ceiling but plenty of height.
For Flowering, i have a 500w Blackstar LED flowering light, as well as a 2ft 2bulb t5 for side lighting on smaller plants.
For veg i have the 240w Blackstar LED, but using the florescent light for now. too small.
I am skeptical about LED's but from other journals, they seem to work great.
My strains are at the moment Jack the Ripper from 12/12 seed and they range from 11 days, to 4 days old. The males to females are 1/2 and 1/4 are strong f1's, so I will be discarding all the males in two weeks. Using different phosphorus nutes to make em bloom fast. I will also try topping on a few of them, starting tomorrow or the next day on the oldest one. Also got Black Domina, Void, and ShyGirl all at seedling stages in the veg room under a florescent. Will put up the 240w blackstar soon, dont want to bleach the plants.

Dont mind the NFT, those are the soon-to-be homes of my lettuces, few different basils, and a garden cherry tomato plants. They want to hang out with the big boys, so they get front row seats to the show. Jack rippers will be on the floor, and on top of the reservoir for the NFT, so will be a funny forest. The suggestions of the LED is well coverage of 3x4 feet, so the remaining 1x4 is going to be the poor nft, with a t5.

Day 14 of these guys emerging out of the ground and beginning their lives in 12/12 light. They all look great, added a tower fan to get some air movement. They are getting full veg nutes with some phosphorus, root-nutes, and thrive-alive b-1 as well as a 240w led Veg light for now. I will be upping the phosphorus next week, and Im putting in the 500w blackstar on monday to get some red spectrum. Transplanted most of them into 5-gallon containers where they will live the rest of their lives.

Also brought in my home-made cloner into the veg room to use for my ruffles basil, lemon basil, sweet lettuce, garden cherry tomatoes, and cayenne peppers. It looks like its going to be a long winter so I want these guys vegging now. In the veg tent i also have going Black Domina, 4x Jack the Rippers, and 3x Shy Girls. the 240 Blackstar is going into veg room on monday and the t5 is going over the nft next to 500w blackstar.

I have only been using the 240w blackstar so far, and to be honest, I can't say I have too much experience with it. It's my first time using any LED's. What I can say is that, the first day the 240w went in there, I noticed the plants shifted their position as if they were catching a bouquet of flowers at a wedding; all 23 of them. What I cannot wait for is putting the 500w in there and then I will let you know truly how I feel about them. So far, I am incredibly happy that I switched from my 400w setup to this. The lights cost me 1$ per watt, so 240 and 500 exact with shipping. Plus I took down so much extra wiring. Also, I saw that LED's were great for me because of my space. I'm using very short height; about 5'6 feet so penetration is not a problem with me. No pun intended.

Secondly, I can't wait for my little guys to see LEDs. I've grown everything under an MH and hps but never under an LED so it really feels like a new experience to me. Today I fed all the big guys with 550ppm and 6.1ph, and the little guys with 300ppm 5.7ph.

Alright, I'm definitely interested in this one. Looking to see how the 500w compares to the 240w, which I am using for my first and you seem to have experience with. How far above the canopy do you put your 500w (or your 240w)? I've been experimenting with this and under 8" seems to stunt growth.

Again, ive never used LEDs until a week ago, so I'm doing some very fun personal testing. It's not just about the height of the light with me. I've setup a colosseum style tent. You will notice it better on my next update probably, which should be in two to three days; once I setup 500. My canopy always stays within 3-5 inches from each other because of my separate levels. Each level was hand-selected from neighborhood yard sales, and hand scrubbed with bleach and soap. The light itself at the moment is 1 feet and 8 inches away. Im trying to get these guys to stretch so I can notice sex easier in two weeks. I also have great air circulation. Basically, I spend too much time at home and baby the hell out of these guys, so I'll let you know each update what I experimented with and what I notice. Stay tuned cowboy.

Day 17 of these guys entering the world. Half of them i planted three days later, but the ones I planted had so much more vigor that they all mostly look the same. They are starting to show the leaves right before they sex, so within a week or week and a half, I should have half of them cut down, and the rest continuing their lives. Fed them with 580ppm and 5.7ph. I had a little change of plans. I put the T5 in the veg room, and both the LED's in the flowering tent. I thought I wanted a stronger flowering room because I'll be using mostly clone to flower, or seed to flower. I never thought I would ever have a 740W duel spectrum LEDs.

All but one of these guys are Jack the Ripper. The light green one is Void, a 50/50 indativa, third picture. They all seem healthy so far; no deficiencies. I expect to see them soon but I am home so much that they are under heavy regulation.

Also, pictures 2, 4, and 8 is my plant with the most vigor. I just topped him using LBH's 4way topping method. I really hope that, if any, the one topped is a female. That would get me very far in production. I might be topping most of them, but ill decide later. I want to know sex first. Next week, ill be giving them heavy phosphorus to see some sex.

Ill be watching, just be careful you dont stress those plants with topping/nutes too early.

My feeds are very light. I try to feed them every two days when the soil seems more dry than moist. I only topped one of them, the strongest one. He seems like five days ahead of everybody. Ill be topping the rest once I see sex. Hop along, I love when people comment about my grow. I also found a very funny mutation on one of the seedlings. Infact, the back left 5gallon bucket has 3 seedlings, two of which have a leaf mutation. One of them has a single leaf on one of the fan leaves, and has two large leaves on the other fan leaf. Very excited to see what it will look like. Ive always noticed its the mutated sick plants that produce light, but Dank bud.

Day 22 of these guys coming out of the ground. So far so good. The topped one is starting to grow three heads. No significant changes, still young. I was gone for two days and had minor heat issues but highest was 85. No deficiencies, nothing much to report.



The second picture is a defect I found on one of the plants. It has one big leaf on one leaflet and two equal size leaves on the second leaflet. Excited to see it grow up.

Day 26, and I'll be adding new pictures in day or two. Fed the guys and gals with 200ppm water with root nutes and enzymes, and the responsenhas been great. Lowered the lights by a foot or so to get them to harden up. The topped void looks beautiful. Four new heads are coming out now. The mutated ones are back to normal with new growth. Added 2 blueberry clones to my veg room thanks to a cool patient. Also got fem pineapple express, fem Jack herer, fem DNA sour cream and Thai breeze for seeds that I will be planting in four weeks.

Day 26 after lights out. They are growing and growing.
Void is in the red solo. Topped plants filling in with four new heads. Found one very minor phosphorus deficiency on one of the fan leaves of the jacks, will correct next feeding. The two clones in 3 and 5 are blueberry clones, with jack the ripper seedlings in the background.

Day 29, almost a month now. I was away for two days and came back to nice growth. All of the jack the rippers and void i topped are now filling in. 4 new nodes coming out of all except one that was under slight heat stress. I noticed minor nute burn on three of the jack the rippers, and flushed with water. New nute schedule tomorrow afternoon after I build a 4ft x 2ft DWC System and take 20-25 clones from my local community garden. Im going with full strawberry and blueberry dwc system under these LED lights.



Also put up pictures of 6 jack the rippers, 1 black domina, and 2 blueberries in veg. They will be going into flowering as soon as I find the sex of my current flowering 12/12 seeds.

Beginning of DAY 35. All plants look healthy. Last feed, I fed the ones that look healthiest a x4 dose of AwesomeBlossoms, and in 6 hours, they distinctly showed sex. One of the pictures is the hairs I saw in only 6 hours. I found 2 males and chopped them. Also found 6 females, one of which might be showing signs of hermms, but I will watch him carefully. 6/7 Females with jack the ripper, and 0/1 with Shy Girl. There are also 2 blueberry plants in there from a good friend, Playtowin. They have 15 or so days of veg from clone, and now they are flowering. The plants I topped during day 20ish look incredibly great. I wish I topped them all, but since it is my first grow, I am experimenting heavily. The void looks great as well, but no sex yet. I didnt give her the awesomeblossoms.

What I am going for is a sea of green with all 12/12 seeds and clones. The left side of the tent has a 500w flowering and the right side has a lowered 240w veg light. The left side gets more flowering nutes and the right side gets more veg nutes.
