LED Grow- First Time Organic Jack Herer

Hey Ya'll, This is my first time growing and my first time posting on riu.

I have a pretty simple set up, i'm using a Pro-grow 260 LED from Hydroponics Hut, cost me $421 including the shipping. I have them growing in Miracle gro potting mix, i read up on fox farms ocean forest after i transplanted them sadly. both plants are about 4 weeks old, but up until yesterday i didn't have a light and they grew by sun only.

I'm currently growing in a closet without a tent or anything, waiting for a few more paychecks to be able to afford everything i need for flowering season.

I have blood meal mixed in with some bio-start fungus and bacteria supplements as well as a little bit of crushed egg shell for calcium and fresh mushed banana for potassium. I'm watering them several times a day with a spray bottle, just wetting the top layer whenever it is completely dry. I'm doing an experiment with magnetic water, strawberry and akin plant growers in australia have been having amazing results in increased yield and size of each individual plant when using magnetized water so we'll see how it goes.

I had one question about my LED lamp i can't find anywhere, the PG 260 allows you to choose the spectrums your growing in, one switch is purple reds and hte other is white blues. Of course white blue is meant for vegging and purple red is meant for flowering, but would it increase the overall health of the plant to veg with the purple reds on? or would the plant simply ignore the new spectrums during this stage of life?

Anyway- heres my ghetto little grow room for the moment.

The blue thing over the door is a car window reflector- the kind that keeps your car from heating up. The side out toward the world is the blue side, to keep the heat in since i'm using LED's and i actually had a too cold grow room problem. and the other side of it is the shiny metalic which does a great job of keeping the light from espcaping out of about 80% of the door, since i have no exhaust system i have to keep the door open at the moment.

Lastly my oldest plant has suddenly started warping its leaves, this started only after i put it under my LED

Heres a shot of that- the best i can get on my computers camera

Well thats all for now- i welcome any comments or tips about this grow. Thanks for your time everybody.

Hello everybody. Week 5 update on my plants.

Both Jack Herer are doing pretty well. I transplanted them both from the miracle gro potting mix to Fox Farms ocean forest on Sunday, so their growth has been a little stunted. But they both handled it great and should resume full growth speed by thursday or friday. Heres a few shots of the JH.

The eldest, She had a little wilting after her transplant, but recovered like a champ.

The youngest, lower leaves were not doing so well after transplant, i snipped em completely and she's doing gorgeously now.

I recently acquired some Sour diesel seeds as well, I had an opportunity to smoke some of the bud from their parent plant. It was truly amazing stuff, I'm hoping its a stable enough plant I'll get at least close to the same genetics. Quite possibly the best SD I've ever had.

I have a few seeds in a prop tray.

I also home made a prop dome out of a crystal light container. And i'm testing that out- i have a single seed planted in a fabric 1gallon pot in a rockwool cube. It has ocean forest soil around it and the crystal light container placed ontop.

So we'll see how this turns out haha.

Overall I haven't added much to the whole grow room set up. A few updates though

I kept getting a cold grow room so I moved the heater down onto the floor to heat up the lower air, i also placed white painted boards all over the gaps in reflection in the room. both on the ground and on the sides to increase reflectivity to hopefully retain some light and heat. I also raised the light quite a bit, turns out light stress was the cause of the earlier leaf curl.

Well thats all for now. I'll have an update in a week.

Hey again everybody. Sorry no update last week, was a very busy week.

To recap everything thats happened; I finally upgraded my grow closet to a real tent, and have been able to switch my light cycle from the 18/6 I was running to a full 24/0. They have been growing like crazy over the last week. I also started them on a real nutrient diet, i use botanicare line of products. Using the pro-blend grow, liquid karma, silica blast, cal-mag, sweet, and then root drench once a week. the rest of them are all mixed and watered for 2 waterings, and then one watering of straight water. I also discovered my water i was using was actually the incorrect pH the tester i had was terrible. So that problem has also been fixed.

Heres some pictures of the room.

Thats really all for this week. I'm going to turn on the other spectrum starting a day or two from now to try and get some pre-flowers to form. Hopefully we'll know if we have any females soon enough!

Hey Ya'll a good week of growing, both Jack Herer have shown their sex, the younger one of the two which I recently topped is a male, and the older one which is still untopped is a female. I'm going to give away the male, don't really have the heart to kill him.

Anyway, heres the plants.
