LED Growing lights

Im pretty sure that you can use LED lights but can you use white led lights or do they have to be tinted because in videos ive only seen pink and blue used

The reason they use the blue and red LEDs is because plants absorb red and blue to produce chlorophyll. White contains every color, thus it appears white. LEDs were designed to be a more energy efficient and light wavelength specific way of growing. You can buy white LEDs, but the blue and red will work better (I personally like the Red/Blues ones that also add a few white to cover all spectrum, or adding LED with CFL or HPS).
