Do plants see two different lights giving the same ppfd as the same intensity? For example, you have a 300w LED giving off 600 ppfd… and you have a 1000w LED dimmed down also giving off 600 ppfd …are plants reading the two lights as exactly the same intensity?
I have an hlg 300 Bspec sitting 40” above 1 month old plants, at 50% power and they’re completely stalled out from what I’m almost positive is the light being too strong

I doubt it’s lighting too strong. I have the HLG 650 R, and yes they recommend 40” up at veg and that works, but it’s not too strong, they should have tight nodes and be happy as far as lighting goes.
One seems happy, one the complete opposite. Idk if that leaf curl is heat or light stress, my temps haven’t gone above 82-83 F and when this pic was taken the light was at 40”, roughly 50%
