Yooooo,

Some of you may remember me from CW, OG, AN or ICmag forums. I'm researching a pretty good sized LED hydro grow, and the only 3 names that I hear repeatedly are the Spydr 1200 or the NeoSol DS.
Honestly, I'm not in to spending this kind of coin for an initial start up, but these goddamn Nanolux DE's are too hot, and as a believer in physics, particularly the inverse square law; I don't believe in the hype of the marketing, getting super tired of my 3 ton AC not properly cooling 8 of them and costing me thousands of dollars to burn plants, and give me yields similar (or less) to my aircooled horti reds. How the hell do you expect to get the same lumen output from a greenhouse fixture 3+' above the tops??? don't give me that "overlap" and MOL BS either! Maybe with help from the sun!

As a former Hydro store owner and Advanced Nutrients tech rep, I'm all too aware of the erroneous statements constantly made by these marketeers, and constantly believed by Joe public (A sucker is born every minute). I'm not trying to have smoke blown up my ass. I want some serious truth. Before you recommend me to build my own, my time is far more valuable, and to build an LED light would cost me twice what full MSRP would be on these 2 fixtures.

If you own either of these, or something just as good or better, or cheaper, have at least half a year with them, and know what you're doing, I would really love to hear your input. We don't have to get too technical, but if you have input you feel could benefit an LED newb, I would really appreciate it. I'm gonna be looking for 20 of these things, to start, and if you have a line on where to save some $$$ I would love to hear where! Thanks so much!

Take the video with a grain of salt. Every manufacturer has their own promotional video.
PM me up if you want to talk to a LG rep or researcher who in turn can put you in touch with actual growers.

TheDopestBoy: Thank you. Nice nugs. 1st question, what panel are you rockin?? How many?

Sow To Grow: Thank you as well. Is LG actually making an LED grow light? are they making anything to compare with a 1000w HID lamp?

Custom built COB panels with Cree CXB3590 LES, or Philips Osram LES are your best bet. The commercially available lights are all less efficient and a generation behind, not to mention pricey af.

I assume you are recommending I purchase a custom built unit, as I clearly stated above that I was not going to build anything. Do you have any suggestions as to who?

Sorry man, you might want to try contacting Pacific Lighting Concepts, they have nice units, http://www.pacificlightconcepts.com/shop/

If you wanted to build something I could definitely point you to a supplier, but I understand you need a pre-built product for a commercial application. I probably should not have responded, best of luck!

Thanks for trying. Perhaps my post was too long winded to read the whole thing. I'll definitely click the link.

1 panel, Neo-Sol DS ;-) and a controlled environment tighter than a virgin!

Yeah, I figured it out after reading some other threads. Did you ever use the Spydr? I read it's a little flimsy in comparison to the NeoSol. I definitely want a quality build and something sturdy that at feels like it will pass the test of time.

On another note, I have been fucking off watching different youtube vids, and I see a lot of people testing or comparing GrowBlu to Mars. I am really impressed with some of these grows. These units are about 1/2 the price, and seem to be doing every bit as good a job. Could anyone please elaborate?

after doing my research, I'm having a really hard time justifying the $1500 ticket on these. Hence, why I started watching other vids. There's too much crap to sift through, and too many dipshits who live to troll LED threads. Can anyone point me in the direction of some commercial LED grows so I can see what these peeps are using, and how? Thanks!

It's there oldest model 300watt. No heat at all bright i have a few other leds and MarsHydro is best out of 4 brands. Not sure of the other names but that's cause if i get more it will be the MarsHydro 3 generation.
MJ, Which Mars Hydro model do you have?

as I mentioned above in my initial post, I worked in the industry for quite some time. I was partnered in a digital ballast co, and am no stranger to alibaba. I also used to direct production for snowboard factory in china. unfortunately, 3 of 4 chinese mfgs are crooks who use cheap imitation components that pass all the tests, equaling the same results for about a week.. When I ordered my first 1000 digital ballasts from our first vendor, I had over 300 returns, and the shiesty mf's refused to make good. You have to know the few reputable mfg's there. They can duplicate the look 100%, but ongoing performance & reliability is extremely rare.
