hey i was wondering will this light be dangerous to use in a ward - drobe, 4ft x 7ft, my friend thinks in a confind space it may cause problems, fire etc. anyway this is the housing.
You need to get a small fan or something. If you'll be vegging first, only run the light for 16 hours per day, instead of 18-24. Your plants won't grow as fast, but they won't grow at all if temps exceed 90 degrees.
i got a large house fan, the only thing i'm scared of is the bulb exploding or the ballast, is this possible? i was gonna do 12/12 so when i go to bed at night the light will be off, plus overhead copters won't see strange heat, also the boxing of the bulb says it can get hot to 300 degrees, what ya think i'll post my set up. brb.
Unless you have plants that are ready to flower, you'll need to run the light for at least 15-16 hours. The house fan will help, even better if it's the oscilating kind. Place the fan so it's blowing slightly upward, that way it will blow most of the heat from the lamp away from your plants. Here's the thing, if temps inside the box are over 90 degrees you should put your grow on hold until you can arrange a good exhaust system.
ok cool, my friend is bringing a thermometer today, my seeds have only been potted today, so no rush for the light, might set it up and check the temp, i need to make a heat shield also around the light to.
Say, that's not aluminum foil that I see is it? If so, get rid of that shit quick. It's not a good reflector of light and it creates hot spots. Paint the inside flat white if you can, or line it with plain white paper.
no thats not tinny thats good stuff, its heat reflector shield, you put them on cars n stuff in the summer so they dont get hot, i think. cept its on a roll.
