Hello guys, my first post so be gentle.
I'm starting my first grow here in about a month and I've been cultivating opinions from everyone in my friend circle who has experience and every post I can on the different options available for growing in a small space.
I'm also reading Cervantes's book, but the information is very scattered and some parts of the book don't don't necessarily square up with other parts of the book.
So here's my question:
I'm growing hydro in a closet roughly 2x8ft. There will be six plants with good spacing. Ill be doing veg and flower in closet and I'm not sure about the specifics of the lighting I'll be using.
The two options that seem to be most popular are:
a) One 1000w in an air cooled hood on light mover. This will allow greater coverage of the growing area, and will even out candle time by having periods of very low light and very intense light on each plant.
and
b) Two 600w in stationary air cooled hoods. The benefit being the lowered heat from each individual bulb, so the hoods can be lower to each plant and disperse more high intensity light.
Cervantes's book quotes:
"Light movers can increase intense light coverage by 25-35 percent." P. 191
But earlier in the book he says:
"[The light mover] is not a substitute for more lumen's from an additional light." P. 190
So I'm finding the information in the book kind on contradictory. And online there is no small amount of opinion on both sides of which is the "superior" way to do things, but often the issues stand alone and are never compared in thread.
So if someone could throw their opinion in on which would be better suited for this kind of scenario, I'd really really appreciate it. Thanks.
