Light placement question

What is a good distance to have my light (150 watt HPS) from my plants?

The distance:

Lid to top of plant - About 8"
Lid to bottom of light - About 31"

Whats the distance from the top of the plant to the light?

6-8 inches from the tops. Get a fan and have it blowing on the tops.

150 does not produce much heat I have one myself.

damn i got mine line 8 inches from the canopy in average.....3 weeks flowering 600 watts hps
