6500k stands for color “temperature” of the bulb. Basically the lower the number the more red you have in your spectrum and the higher the number the more blue you have in your spectrum.

For growing purposes your ideal setup is to use bulbs with a 6500k rating during the vegetative cycle of your plants and 3000k or lower during the flowering cycle of your plants.

1600 Lumens stands for the actual intensity of the light, the more the better!

6500 K is for the vegg stage. U want more 6500 K then 2700K when ur in this stage.
The more Lumens u have the better. They say for CFL u need about 2900 lumens per plant. u want CFL blubs all over u plant not just on top.

my CFL set up puts out 12000 lemens.

thank you tones bro, so a

30w Twist CFL (125W Incandescent Equiv)
Energy Used: 30 Watts
Light Output: 125W Incandescent Equivalent (2050 Lumens)
Color Temperature: Soft White (2700K)

would be good for veg mode if I can get one of thoes kinds?

Dude if you are in the US, go to walmart or home depot..
They have a bunch of CFLs that are 6400k.
Theyre available in a variety of Wattages..The ideal bulbs are the 42w "daylight" bulbs.

Or

Order them online... Most lighting stores sell DAYLIGHT 6400k CFLs in whatever wattage you desire.

6400k for VEG

2700k for flowering.

You might wanna throw a mix of the different k rated bulbs in your grow area to 'even' out the light to a color spectrum that is more natural... I tend to add 1x 6400k bulb to every 4x 2700k bulbs.

Thats the way to do it.

my 2, 4 foot flourescent fixtures kick out 10,000 lumens. there is a formula for this, but I'm not sure where I saw it. hopefully someone can help here. I am way underlit, but am on a fixed income (no job, i.e. very fixed!) but I try.

I believe that was it, I figured out my lumens with it when i first started to grow, It let you convert wattage into lumens to figure out your light output. I think that's what's it's called, thanks
