Light question

Was going to try a simple little indoor grow but just don't have enough spare money to be able to do it. My gf has a 4story building that she runs a business out of the first floor. The top 3 levels have been blocked off cause they need remodeled and bats have made their way through some holes into the smaller top attic level. While me and a friend were up their the other day removing bats and filling openings i noticed on the 3rd floor that it appeared to have been a show room floor or something similar at one time. There were roughly 4-6 lights hanging down across the entire span and i walked under one and noticed they were all 300w MH lights(MH appearance but i clearly read 300W). They are wired directly in to the power supply, there5o are no ballasts that i could see anywhere, would these lights be able to be used to grow? I was just curious because if i stumbled across 6 300w MH lights, then i don't need to worry about buying some lights right now.

go to your house of worship and thank god. ive never used MH but it is a common practice to use them for growing. make sure they work without needing a ballast first obviously. you just got hooked up bro. happy growing

They work very well for veg they are not so great for flowering a plant

How many plants did you want to run ? you`ll want to get the plants set up around 1 to 2M away from the lights once you have got them rooted

You should check them out as depending on the system in place you may be able to swap the bulbs out hell you might even be able to get some hps lights up for when your plants are ready to flower.

You have power there a cheap 600w hps lamp runs at around £60 with a ballast and shade if you were to get say 1 of them for every 2 or 3 of the mh`s you have I see no reason why you could not flower around 3 to 6 big plants per MH light you will want to add the hps when you start to flower otherwise you`ll get a crap yield or will lose potency.

But yes mate you seam to have found yourself a potential weed factory with a bit of investment and work, I take it you have easy access to water ? You should have collected all the bat dung to use as plant food its organic people pay loads for that stuff.
