See this is what I hate about that method "approximately". Its way to vague and confusing. "From flip" is at least a hard date. Not dogging on you, Just hate that method because its so arbitrary.
Is it? I've been here a minute and I still count from the day I flip my lights. Vive la difference

I always count from the flip date because like @pegboy said, it's always a concrete, set in stone date. When you happen to notice pistils or when you believe flowering 'started' based on your plant guru skills is up for debate. The day you flip to 12/12 is not.

I only count from start of flower if I'm on my second run with a strain, and even then it's mostly because my friends all think 10 weeks from flip is absurd, but I like 14 week sativa leaning plants like Pineapple fields.

Photoperiod: I count from day of flipping lights. The first 13-hr dark period is Day One.
Autos: i count total days from seed but i switch to "Bloom" feed upon noticing clusters of pistils on the topsites, aka "budlets"

Must have miss understood y'all. Apologies. Lot of talk of breeder advertised flower times being bs and an approximated approach to correcting. I count my 12/12 time as bloom time also, as stated it's a hard set date and a noticeable shift in environment not dependent on my observation

CANNOT AGREE MORE about what's been said and repeated here regarding:

Nah I'm not claiming it's any standard I was just surprised to hear we had any sort of consensus. We are a lot like herding cats. Frankly I'm so wasted 1/2 the time I rarely write down the days I flip on their stakes. It always seems like a great idea and then I'm looking for the date on the stakes and rarely find them. I got really good at estimating time in flower because I was so shitty at keeping notes.
Common opinion is not consensus. at the end of the day it's only about trying to calculate energy cost, and timing your following run. I would have no records whatsoever if it were not for rui.
So more concisely: breeder advertised bloom times are either overstated or based on perfect stable conditions factoring to 2ish weeks faster then the home grower will witness, this time period is a close correlation of the time of continued upward growth after light flip(start of flower period)

Breeder estimates are part of the confusion, and newer growers like to obsess over everything.
Seems like this plant is taking forever to flower... (reality, it's been 6 days since they flipped)
Hmmm the breeder said 56 days... this doesn't seem far enough along to me (scratches head) Maybe we're supposed to count from first pistils?
In serious doubt, they head to the forums for a consensus...

While I use flip date, it’s really immaterial. Plants don’t use calendars. And you tell by what the buds look like to tell when they’re ready to harvest, not an arbitrary date given to you by a breeder or self determined. It takes as long as it takes.
Correct. But data collection, estimating projections for future planning, tracking/budgeting energy cost are all valuable practices.

Your on day 44 since your flip, day in bloom.. Looks like you got 2-4 weeks to go. Sorry I got this convo so antiquated and off the subject of the particular grow in question
She is a gorgeous plant you've taken really good care of her. I'd say you have another month. I'd ask again in 3 weeks and see what's changed. But keep doing what you're doing and I apologize for going sideways too.

12 days for pistils? Sure it wasn’t 11 or 7? Days from flip is more accurate.
