Okay, so I have a pretty big tent (5'x5') and a magnum xxxl hood; it has a really big footprint, so it helps my whole setup work pretty well bc my ballast goes up to like 11 or 1200 watts, so it spreads it all out evenly.
I usually only run it at 1000w, but I tried kicking it up to the "turbo setting" even though my canopy heights were very uneven (bc I had soil plants and plants in an aero setup that sat up a lot higher). It hasn't caused too much damage yet, however I noticed yesterday that it was starting to really stress out my cotton candy plant, especially the tops that are directly under the bulb.
Sorry, i know its a shitty picture. Anyways, I noticed some nanners popped out, which I am honestly not too concerned with bc I finally have 0 bagseed in my tent to worry about shitty genes getting passed on. But still, the growth is obviously starting to be affected by the light stress.
I had been wanting to move my light for a while, but had to wait until I cropped my soil plants out, bc the aero setup is fairly stationary and can't be moved much (and so there's no way really to get the cotton candy out from directly under the light). For the time being, I put a piece of panda plastic over the stressed top and raised my light and turned it 90°. Its probably about 24" from the top now and as high as it can go.
Here is before I finished harvesting
I have a basic idea of what I need to do to get it healthy again; keep my light higher, try and keep temps lower, etc. That's another thing I'm worried about, my temps have been nice lately bc we've been in a cold spell but tomorrow is supposed to be warm. How long do you think it will take the plant to recover? Think it will affect yield much? Its crazy how different the damaged tops are to the ones that weren't right under the light bulb; the stressed ones don't have near as many crystals (or pistils for that matter).
