Light Times | Constant vs Light breaks?

Does anyone know if it's okay to give plants a break in light during the veg stage? Run lights for 10 hours, switch em off for 4 hours and turn em on for another 8? and leave em off for another 2?

So will a plant go into flowering if it doesn't receive a constant 18-24 hours of light like the sun

That sounds like a hermie waiting to happen. I go 18/6. I have tried 24/0 and saw no difference to speak of. The general health of the plant seemed better on 18/6. Other than that you would be gambling with the flowering cycle of the plant when you decide to switch to flowering phase.

I agree with Little Tommy on light changes causing stress.

It's the dark period to be concerned about, not the light. You can grow {6 on / 18 off} and get fair flowering, but if you reduce the dark period from 12/12 most strains will not flower properly.
