light wont work

i just woke up and my light was off, im a week away from harvest and begining to panic because i cant get it to come on again,

ive tried changing the bulb but it still wont work, 250 w HPS / MHL E40 base

let me know if you need anymore info im just scared its going to be expensive

ok i dont know im really a novice when it comes to electricity...if i broke a circuit how would this happen and is there a simple way to fix it?

I went through this a month ago. I was pisssssed. I came out here and did the same as you, and posted....then I ran to the hydro store and replaced the light. When I got home from the hydro store my broken light suddenly worked! When I came out here to check my thread sure enough the answers were there. I was told that they need a cool off period...up to 20 minutes. Was your light on before it shut down? If it was you may just need to let everything cool off. Don't do what I did and run out and spend $$ on a light you may not need.
Also, do you have another light to test?

Yeah, if you are hooked up to a power strip....is it on and not tripped?

Is the breaker feeding that outlet tripped???

Easiest way to troubleshoot is to try plugging something else in where the light is plugged in....does it work? If not, you have a problem with the elec. supply to that outlet. If the other device does work, you probably have equipment failure, but you could always make triple sure by plugging the light into a different outlet to see if maybe it was a fluke (if it makes you feel better).

thanx for all your replies guys. ive got it to work to again, but i think the notting hill carnival outside is raping the power supply, as i changed the plugs and it worked for a while but then shuts of, it turned off just as the carneval started to its gotta be the reason, im keeping it off till after the carnival
