Lighting advice- 250w CFL's, are reflectors a good idea?

I'm starting a wardrobe grow soon. The current plan is for 3 very large containers each with a single plant in from seedling size to maximise height and width.

Would a single 250w CFL with reflector per plant for the growth cycle be going too far? and do reflectors make that much of a difference to yield especially when the wattage is already so high.

I would hang the light vertical in between the 3 plants for flower. Best use of the light. 1 light vertical would be enough for 3 plants, lots cheaper. Yes reflectors are needed for horizontal. I get double the light reading on my lux meter when the cfl is in the clamp reflector I have.

With a horizontal 250 watt you could grow a 2 foot plant. For veg you can get away with half the watts needed to flower well. I would not have 3 of those lights going in veg. I would have that 1 light horizontal for veg with plants in tight circle and flip it to vertical for flower.

Get that light close in flower, like an inch away or 2 at most. Light intensity falls off sharp for cfl with distance.

Grow vertical with that bulb!

You could also look into a 150w hps setup they are just as cheap, though I'm not sure in the UK.
