Lighting deliberations

Here's my situation: I've got some cash to work with and was thinking about making some upgrades to my setup. I currently run organic soil under par t5. I have three 4' 4bulb t5s in my tent right now but was thinking of getting either an hps or an led and make one of my t5s a dedicated veg light. Since I've already got the ventilation for my t5 tent--540cfm tjernlund extraction fan with 6" ducting-- I could easily repurpose it for a vented hood and still move enough air to vent the ambient heat from the 2 supplemental t5s I'd use as side lighting in the flowering tent. But, that option will require me to add the ballast, bulb hood and reconfigure my venting so purchasing more hvac gear while picking up an Area 51 sgs 160 and just plug that sucker in...which would you do?

Also, I'm pretty sure I can get an ever grow nova 2 for 300 bucks, the sgs for 495, the xgs for 525, or a 600w quantum ballast and eye hortilux with hood for around 350; switch that to a solis tek ballast and its 480

But I'd include at least two hps bulb replacements in the cost to even the score up since the LEDs won't have to be replaced for a while ... So that adds between 80 and 300 bones, putting the led in a slight advantage... Anyone have any thoughts?

If you have the vent setup...HPS. That's just my opinion...solistek definitely...one of the best hands down. Great reliability, no noise, no fan to fail.

How big is your tent? I had a closet setup and ran a 400 watt HPS and had a couple small T5 lights along the side. I was in a closet 2x4x8 and it got hot in summer but my fan was small 180 4" cfm. I was happy with my results with HPS but decided to go with the Area51 SGS160. All I have to say is I love this light so far but I haven't completed a grow with it yet. Temps are lower, I can use less fans, lower electric bill, etc. The light was 495 out the door....I have a small closet grow so it made sens for my setup, I run two plants and average 3-4 oz per plant with some training,scrog...I am hoping that doesn't change we will see! If I had a bigger space and was growing a lot more plants I would still lean toward HPS I think.
