Lighting For Seedlings

Wats up everyone! I was wondering if u peeps can share your lighting experience with seedlings. I'm wondering if it's better to start the seedlings under CFL's until they grow a few nodes(I've had good results with my first grow under CFL's) or if I should start them directly under my Mars Hydro 900 VEG Only Led.

I'm wondering if the led would be too strong for the seedlings even at a height of 28-30 inches above.

Any insight? Thanks, happy growing.

A CFL start for seedlings is perfectly fine. One high wattage CFL can cover the seedling pretty well for the first few weeks of it's growth if necessary, very good for keeping temperatures down and utility costs low. I personally vegged mine under a 250W MH and they did just fine, so I'm sure your LED would do just fine as well.

So...yes to CFL's, but probably go ahead and just use your LED. Or better yet, LED above and CFL side lighting! Get the best of both world's if you can set it up in whatever space you have.

Yeah..but they're ok for raising babies.
Hec they will grow big plants but in ten years the technologhy has advanced at a snails pace and t5's/hps are still much better.

They suck because they never met any expectations of early growers, the sheer amount of led users is down to mass advertising not results.

HID vs LED will be debated for years to come. However, I really think if ur a knowledgeable cultivator, your goal should be to pull as many grams per wat with any light ur using, whether it's hid or led.

Aren't there so many other factors involved that directly affect yield? (Temps, humidity, nutes, growing medium, ph, proper distance from light to canopy, training techniques, etc....) Can u really say ur yield sucked because u used led vs hid lights or vice versa?

Just my opinion... Peace

Have they made 10watt leds yet or are they still struggling? This is one promise the led industry made ages ago.

There is no debate that hps/mh is better than leds, thats fact.

I've smoked buds that were grown from led that tasted / smelt / felt better when compared to an hid bud of the same strain.

So stop trolling

I dont troll, if it seems that way its just me and appologies. Everyone knows t5's make the tastiest frostiest bud, no reason leds wont do the same.

One thing would make me love them and thats a price the same led unit as the equivelant wattage in hps, i would rock them badboys all 12 hours long at that point.

Cfls are almost as cheap as t5s so that an obvious choice for me, t5's are absolutley the nuts.
