Lighting help Please.

Hello peoples,
I have recently started growing and having a bit of trouble understanding the lighting system and how it works. I understand the basics of lighting towards the Kelvin side of things like 2500k for flowering and 6500k for veg.

But what i want to know is what will be enough lighting for one plant?

I currently have Two CFL's in my grow box one 3000k and one 5000k and both of them are at 28w. ( couldnt find the 2500k or the 6500k.)

Will this be enough lighting for one plant?

Much help would be appreciated and im sorry if this is posted some where else.(Been searching near on an hour!)

Thankyou =)

Yes, that's enough light to grow one plant. Bigger plants require more light, and the longer you veg the bigger your plant should get. If you only have a few cfls to work with then you should do a micro-grow. Check out the cfl section under Indoor Growing for a good idea of what you can expect from a few bulbs.

what size is your box. the 28wtters are those the one that are equvalent to 100wtts.

Grow space is about 1ft sq by about 2 1/2 Tall. Yeah on the cfl box it says 28 wtts then underneith that says 140wtts. Yeah looked into doing 12/12 from seed but decided to veg for atleast a week just to get the plant moving.
Thanks for the fast reply's!

I would say at least 100w of cfl's for a plant (so at least 3 of the 28w) and then another 50w per additional plant, as a guidline.

Ah cool thanks, just went and baught 2 48watters to replace the 28w ones. When i decide to build a new grow box probably make space for a 3rd 48w
light :D

2 28watters is probably the minium for a plant but she will still grow. I started with that sorta set up and now i have 5 24watters and a 48 Just dont expect huge yeilds and extreme growth. Good luck!

Cool, Went and bought 2 48w cfls today but they dont fit into my light fuxture! I also saw they had these 70w flood light cfl that fit the socket i need. Would they work?
