lighting question

ive been looking at some 400 watt hps/mh systems ive grown with cfl and want to move on to hid i found these 2 systems which are a little on the cheaper end. im a little tight on cash now. but don't know which is better.

i thought the first one because it has a electronic ballest

also would i be able to purchase a different bulb with these systems like if i wanted to purchase a sun system buld would it work?

i know these might be noob questions but just wanna know open to any recommendations on 400 watt systems in the same price range

Either one of those 2 lights would be an excellent choice. Any 400 wat hid bulb will work in both of these.

I would go with the first one, the electronic ballast is your best bet. Just make sure you have some fans to keep the heat down, depending on your growing environment. And yes you can swap the bulb out for a different one, just make sure its 400w

If you're that strapped for cash, you might wanna take a look at getting some used high bay lights from a commercial warehouse. Check some of your local commercial lighting contractors, or salvage/demolition companies. You can usually find 'em on Ebay and Craigslist as well. They are pretty straight forward to convert to a "remote ballast" application, in fact there are pics in my albums that show you how to do it. I used them for my first three grows, and even now, most of my lights are converted commercial lighting. I have less than $50 in the most expensive of them.
