in a 4ftx8ftx5ft cabinet which would do better (1) 1000w hps or (2) 600w hps
i would usually research it more and idk if theres already a thread im just alot more stoned than usual too lazy lol.

also the formula is lxwxh to tell cfm right?
so it would be a fan blowing 160cfm right?

yes the formula is correct

LxHxW = 160 cu ft

now this is just for air exchange. A carbon filter attached to this will cause a 25% reduction in the effectiveness of your fan.

so

160 x 1.25 = 200CFM fan and filter.

this as already mentioned will only create enough air exchange .

Do you plan on using an air cooled reflector?

160 cfm i doubt will cool that amount of lighting. and 2 x 600 is always better for lumens and light foot print. 5 foot tall is kinda short and will hold a fair bit of heat in.
id use around a 400 cfm fan in there, with speed controler for more control

I agree with medi, get a fan for around 400cfm or your going to have heat issues. I also think that 2 600's would be better for the shape of your tent but thats going to get warm. Get a good fan....your gonna need it. you might even want to consider 2 400's for that space just to avoid heat issues.

as i mentioned the fan was only for air exchange .

however you could run a sealed air cooled lighting system where it has its own cool air feed from outside your grow and exhausted away using a 440CFM fan to run your 2 x 600w and have the 200CFM fan and filter scrubbing your air and exhausting that away.

i am curently running 2 x 600 and fan is at half speed and is a 475 cfm and keeps it at 77. and i have a 8 inch fan scrubbing the room. hoods run 24/7. i only have 2 bends in the line to the hoods.,i doubt 200 for scrubing will be enough...with 2 lights for his size room./ no hight to it so will keep the heat low on the plants where we dont want it

read my post again medi. not to sound like a dick but if you check it im talking about a sealed light system and with a 440CFM fan or similar running 2 air cooled lights with an independant intake/exhaust just for the lights then there should be little heat from them meaning the only concern then is cleaning and exchanging enough air for the 160cu ft grow room.

which from the calculation i posted would need 200CFM fan and filter to exchange the air once a minute for his room with passive intakes.
