A plant that is 5 feet tall can harvest a 3 ounces with a 250 watt bulb 6-10 ounces with a 1000 watt bulb and 1-2 lbs with a 1000 watt bulb and 1000 watts of SIDE lighting...

A 250 watt bulb can probably harvest 3 x's more off of 3 plants that are flowered when they have 6-10 nodes (6-10 iches tall)...

no need to grow so big... even though it is fun... :)

and NOW you KNOWM

Have you considered takig clones?

so knowm,
what is the max highth that you would grow say12 plants under a 400watt light with some t12 fluros as side lighting?

Hi KOCH...

Will the SIDE lighting be on all 4 sides...? Will all the plants get side lighting...?

If they all get side lighting... It would be a wicked grow...

I would let them get 10-12 nodes... especially if it was a NICE tight INDICA..

i have found a wonderfull bagseed strain that looks really scrawny when its vegging, and when it starts to flowerer it gets bushier than most plants ever get in veg. buds and leaves just shoot right out of all the sticks on the entire thing. nice and crystally and very resistant to stress and pest.

im not sure how I want to arrange the side lighting for the sog setup that i am rebuliding.
I have 4 shoplights that hold 2 bulbs apeice. they take t12 bulbs or t8, so i put in t12's.
right now i have 3 of the lights put in a separate cabinet that I use to veg plants in before i put them into flowering. so that only leaves me with 1 to use as a side lighting without having to move them. and id rather not do that because they are a pain to setup

so garden knowm would how tall should i veg the clones to before i flower them? if i just flower them as soon as they root would that leave more light to add a couple more plants? my 400 puts out 55,000 lumens so thats 12 plants @ 4500 lumens apeice...... if i flower them @ 8in would 15-16 plants be ok in there? I have a box setup made in one corner of my room, by mylaring 4ft of a corner and building 2 false walls on either open sides of the corner. so the top is open and well vented with my sog in the open-box and 2 box fans in there.....so there is more room for more and i have test fit the clones, there seems to be enough light to start a few more in theyre first weeks of flowering(smaller plants) ......would it hurt to start throwing them in there?

I am not sure i understand..

BUt ideally, all your plants will stay the same HEIGHT throughout flowering... If one plant gets to big.. IT can literaly CHOKE out the other plants...

yes you can flower 12 small PLANTS under a 400 watt HPS....

6-12 nodes may be a good time to start flowering....

can i see a picture?

cheers

i wish i was able to show a picture but the only camera I have is a webcam.
see I keep 12 clones in my garden now as it is on a sog, prepetual style harvest. Im harvesting a crop every 10 days of 2 or 3 plants. when i harvest them they are usually 62-65 days old.

now i described the area around them in my above post, and the reason that i built that is because it seemed like a LOT of light from my sodium lamp was being lost because it was to far away and the intensity of said "escaping light" wasnt strong. I believe the proper term would be that it becomes supplemental light......... so now i got all my light contained a little more to get a little more out of my light.
dont get me wrong I LOVE my setup for this 400watt light it works wonders........but what man dosent want a little more?
could i put a few smaller clones in there now that i have better focused more of that escaping supplemental light?

get that light as close as ya can, without burning the shit out of em, turn the bulb horizontal instead of vertical and you'll 40% more lumens.dont worry about the yellowing, 5 weeks of bud, ya could add a little nitrogen, but dont worry so much about the yellowing unless its tremendous, for five weeks i do a nitrogen rich food even into bud, then around the end of the fifth i'll go phosphorous rich for three and straight water for one week. I veg em for seven days.

for everything that I have heard you arent supposed to give plants nitrogen rich food during flowering because it dosent do them that much good and is actually harmfull to their budding process. Phosphorus rich food and trace elements are the only beneficial nutrients that you need to consider adding. I would skip fertilizer totally before I added veg nutes to a plant in flowering.
