Best for me was upgrading from CFL to a switchable ballast running a 400W MH for veg and a 400W HPS for flowering. MADE A HUGE DIFF!..and they are on ebay for aprox 120.00 for the ballast/hood and both bulbs.

So MH is good for veg, and HPS is good for flowering, what is HID good for? Friend gave me and idea to use my CFLs now as backup/use where its needed, is that a good idea?

HID means High Intensity Discharge and that is the MH and HPS.Definitely worth the little extra money.

USe the Cfl's after you get a HID or HPS setup to aim at the lower parts of the plant so light is equally distributed.

Posts like this you should promptly ignored because the post RIGHT above it clearly explains than an HPS IS an HID light yet the proclaims they are different.

HPS and MH ARE HID lights. My god, how many times do I have to explain this?
