Little white bugs in my soil

I've got tiny, tiny little white bugs in my soil. They seem to hide in the soil until I water, then start crawling all over the surface until the soil dries a little. What the hell are these?? I've got a magnifying glass on the way so I'll try to get some pics up soon if I have to. I also have gnats and who knows what other little tiny micro-bugs could be on my buds. I've been spraying with insect killer but I don't feel comfortable dousing the buds in it.

haha, factually they are little duchebags. yeah I had them before, freaked me out but they seemed to leave things alone. my theory is the only reason we actually notice them is because of how ofter we are sticking our faces within inches of the soil :P scientifically could be spider mites..look for stupid little webs. take care man!!!:peace:

i got these little white bugs too man, I just flushed my soil for the first time and there they were, on the topsoil but not the plant itself, so I sprayed tho topsoil and first inch of the main stem with my organic 3 in 1 spray that protects against bugs mold and mites hopefully this will help or better yet hopefully the bugs are harmless.

My girl seems to be doing fine in spite of the infestation.. Definitely gonna invest in some home defense before moving the next grow to the closet.

If you put some sand on the top layer of soil it should smuther the little buggers out. They dont seem to mess to much with the plants, but if left untreated, may cause roots to rot. The larva from these gnats feed on roots and cause them to rot. Plus, roots LOVE sand. Try it out....works great!!!

might be springtails... when you water they allcome running out on top of your soil? fungus gnats will be maggot lookin things that dont have legs. watch them carefully after you water.... if they can jump really fast and far for their size they are probably springtails which are actually beneficial. they break down decomposing organic material in your soil and put nutrients back into your dirt.... i ahve them and at frist i thought i had thrip larvae but thankfully my gf is very knowledgable about bugs and asked a professor of hers what they were.

yeah their little and white, there are larger ones that are darker in color, but still small, and they are winged could me gnats but i saw no larva, and as you said they flock to the topsoil when I water. I got the spray from a local flow and grow floral shop, they have everything from nutes, to hid's to clone jell and peat moss.
